Job Summary and Qualifications
The Monitor Tech in the Telemetry Department is responsible for providing direct patient care within the parameters defined by the Registered Nurse Practice Act. This role involves utilizing monitoring communication tools and maintaining a safe and collaborative environment. The Monitor Tech identifies and addresses monitoring and telemetry issues specific to each patient's needs, actively participates in performance improvement initiatives, and contributes to achieving the hospital's mission goals.
What you will do in this role:
- You will demonstrate proficiency in human growth and development, patient assessment, and appropriate care practices tailored to the age groups served.
- You will actively engage in promoting customer service initiatives to enhance patient experience.
- You will provide continuous observation of telemetry monitors, promptly recognizing and documenting any arrhythmias.
- You will communicate monitor findings to nursing staff and physicians on a regular basis, ensuring timely response to patient needs.
- You will maintain accuracy and completeness in all tasks performed, ensuring a clean and organized work area.
- You will adhere to established policies and procedures, utilizing reference materials when necessary to guide actions.
- You will demonstrate sound judgment in handling situations not explicitly covered by instructions.
- You will listen to constructive criticism and actively assist others as needed, displaying courteous behavior towards all stakeholders.
- You will report any suggestions for positive change or recommendations for improvement in departmental policies and procedures to your supervisor.
- You will exhibit initiative in recognizing and fulfilling duties even when not directly assigned, and you will remain open to mastering new work routines and methods.
- You will fulfill annual mandatory in-service requirements, attend department meetings, and participate in training programs to maintain up-to-date knowledge and skills.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma/GED
- Completion of telemetry monitoring/arrhythmia course
- Successful passing of an arrhythmia interpretation examination prior to hire and annually
- Ability to work full time nights
