About The Position
**Job Title:** Registered Nurse - Telemetry **Job Specialty:** Surgical **Job Duration:** 26 weeks **Shift:** 7 PM - 7 AM, 12-hour night shifts **Guaranteed Hours:** 48 **Experience:** Minimum of 2 years of Med/Tele experience required; CNAs need 1 year of recent acute care experience **License:** Registered Nurse (RN) **Certifications:** - RN: BLS, basic EKG certification (ability to read/interpret cardiac rhythm strips) - CNA: BLS **Must-Have:** - General post-surgical experience - Telemetry experience, with the ability to interpret cardiac rhythm strips - Comfortability with vascular surgical patients, orthopedic post-op procedures, and general nursing skills **Job Description:** - Manage patient care in a Level 2 Trauma Center with 411 beds. - Provide care for patients with various surgical needs, including bariatric, vascular, urology, general/GI, ortho, ENT, plastics, and neurosurgery. - Monitor and manage medical overflow patients with conditions such as CHF, Pneumonia, COVID, COPD, sepsis, cellulitis, GI Bleed, Crohn's, vascular gangrene, ETOH withdrawal, IVDA, and more. - Work with a patient ratio of RN: Night 1:5-6, with CNA support at Night 1:10. - Participate in remote telemetry monitoring and ensure all beds have these capabilities. - Experience with peripheral IV starts, tube feedings, TPN, trach care, chest tubes, continuous bladder irrigation, drain management, dressing changes, wound vacs, and more. - Handle Heparin drips and Insulin drips. No cardiac drips or cardiac push meds. - Assist with patients using assistive devices, glucose checks, I/O documentation, and sequential/TEDs. - Support patient ambulation post-op and assist with meals. - Work with an interdisciplinary team including a charge nurse, resource nurse on the day shift, therapists, hospitalists, surgeons, and physician assistants. - Use technology such as Cerner EMR, Alaris IV pumps, and Pyxis medication dispensing. - Be flexible with weekend rotation and holiday expectations, with no back-to-back weekend assignments preferred. - Follow professional dress codes with scrub colors of your choice, avoiding logo shirts, sweatshirts, crocs, artificial nails, and cell phone use in patient care areas. Candidates should be prepared for two days of hospital orientation and additional unit-specific training.
