The salary range for this position is $50.00 - $60.00 per hour based upon a San Francisco location.
POSITION SUMMARY
This position will report to the Director of Packaging Print Production. The experienced Packaging Production Artist will be a team player who is fast, accurate and organized that can seamlessly join a highly productive and fast paced studio environment. Having a keen eye for design, typography and attention to detail, the Packaging Production Artist must feel comfortable following strict brand guidelines as well as be able to manipulate graphics creatively when necessary. A thorough understanding of structure/dielines is also necessary.
Role is 24 hours/week - 3 days/week on-site. May flex to more hours based upon business needs.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create Print-Ready Mechanicals according to brand guidelines for the following:
- Packaging - Secondaries, Primaries, Ancillaries, etc. as well as any other
- Relevant related print marketing materials
- Be comfortable using hands and tools to mock up pre-production samples and comps; also doing basic photo retouching and 2D renderings using Photoshop and Illustrator.
REQUIREMENTS
- Must have Production Artist experience in Packaging with excellent typography and relevant experience
- 5-7 years of experience in the field or in a related area
- Packaging experience in the beauty industry preferred
- Managerial experience a plus
- Comp/prototype studio experience is preferred
- Thorough understanding of various printing processes and manufacturing techniques for both primary and secondary packaging
- Knowledge of common industry printing processes and manufacturing techniques
- Light photo retouching and 2D rendering skills
- Proficient in the following software:
- Illustrator
- Photoshop
- InDesign
- Thrive under pressure while managing multiple projects in a face paced environment
- Highly motivated and able to take initiative
- Organized and detail-oriented
- A passion for beauty, fashion and cosmetics
