Job Description:
- The role is within the Interest Rate Derivative Trade Support Group (IRD TSG) who are responsible for all interest rate derivatives traded in the Americas.
- The broader organization provides operational functions in direct support of activity executed by Institutional Sales &Trading to support financial transactions, devise and implement effective controls and develop client relationships, driving strategic automation solutions by embracing a transformation mindset and challenging the status quo.
- At all times, we will partner with business units across the Firm to develop and implement new products and services as well as drive efficiency and reduce risk in our processes.
- We are focused on delivering quality service to clients both internal and external.
- The role can cover a wide range of products for Rates OTC Derivatives from Vanilla Interest Rates to Structured Rates trading and various hedge instruments.
- The team has a mix of experiences and is a fantastic area for someone to be exposed to a very steep learning curve, giving all individuals the opportunity to develop a meaningful career within Operations.
- Responsible for offering the first line of control for the Interest Rate Derivative Trading desk's risk and ensuring that the trade bookings are correctly reflected in both Front and Back Office systems and tie out with the Counterparty via manual and systematic reconciliation processes as well as exception management
- Facilitate conversations with stakeholders on risks, their impact and how well they are managed in a clear, timely and structured manner
- Being the intermediary between the Trading desk and other infrastructure groups to facilitate breaks and exception resolution as well as root cause analysis
- Recognize and identify risk as well as their impact in day-to-day processes.
- Utilizing strong project management skills to draw out the key issues by leveraging strong knowledge and experience to propose and implement changes in processes whilst prioritizing areas of focus.
- Assist in managing multiple deliverables in line with team priorities
- Depending on experience: execute and lead aspects of assurance activities (e.g., audits, continuous monitoring, closure verification) to assess risk and formulate a view on the control environment
- Self-starter with strong project management skills with the ability to organize your time and complete each task on time.
- Strong attention to detail due to the nature of the functions which require a high degree of accuracy when dealing with trading orders/transactions.
- Passion for self-development with intense curiosity as the willingness to learn new products is essential.
- The ideal candidate can adapt to new firm and industry initiatives by putting forward their own ideas in constantly changing environment.
- A propensity towards leadership as daily deadlines are inflexible and the candidate should be organized to ensure the team meets all deadlines. The ideal candidate can share their knowledge between the Trading, Sales, Settlements and Confirmations groups.
- Strong communication skills as you will be in constant communication with the front office, clients, and many departments within the bank. The ideal candidate will be concise and precise by leveraging their knowledge and understanding to refine their points whilst coming across professionally
- At least 3 years’ relevant experience would generally be expected to find the skills required for this role
- Understanding of business line and key regulations relevant to coverage area
- Strong understanding of audit principles, methodology, tools, and processes is preferred (e.g., risk assessments, planning, testing, reporting and continuous monitoring)
- Ability to identify and analyze multiple data sources to create an informed point of view
- Ability to ask meaningful questions, understand various viewpoints and adapt messaging accordingly
- Diverse product knowledge, Interest Rate knowledge in particular
- Degree in Finance or related
- 3+ yrs work experience, preferably in a Financial Services role
- Financial markets experience (Interest Rate Swaps knowledge a plus)
- Excel and Powerpoint skills (Alteryx and PowerBI a plus)
