Founded in 1972 as the Puerto Rican Legal Defense and Education Fund, LatinoJustice PRLDEF (LJP) has been a leading civil rights and social justice organization for five decades. LJP’s core issue areas include voting rights and redistricting, economic justice, immigrant rights, criminal legal system (policing and prison) reform, racial justice, leadership development, and issues related to Puerto Rico. LJP uses impact litigation, advocacy, and community education and engagement, among other strategies, to protect and advance the rights of Latinx and other communities of color. LJP has offices in New York City, Orlando, FL, and Austin, TX.

LJP is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accounts Receivable/Collections Specialist for a temporary engagement. This role is crucial in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of our accounts receivable operations. Working under the supervision of the Chief Financial Officer, this is a full-time temporary employee responsible for designing, implementing and documenting the billing statement process for LJP’s accounts receivable. The Accounts Receivable/Collections Specialist will work with the development team to contact delinquent donors.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Direct collection via email/phone for past due pledges.
• Working with raw billing data.
• Design statements in Word or Excel or other shared/common applications.
• Deliver at least one statement run.
• Maintain accurate records of all accounts receivable activities.
• Communicate with donors, clients, and other stakeholders regarding payment inquiries.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• Three to Five years’ experience in Accounts Receivable
• Experience working in Accounts Receivable for a nonprofit preferred.
• Strong Excel skills and Word experience.
• Able to work successfully in a small team environment
• Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task

COMPENSATION

This is a temporary position with no supervisory duties. The hourly rate for this position is commensurate with experience up to $60 per hour.
