JOB SUMMARY
We are looking for a Temporary Cook to assist in the preparation of delicious and nutritious meals for our preschool children and staff. The Temporary Cook will be responsible for following established recipes, cooking meals, and maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Proven experience as a Cook or similar role
- Knowledge of various cooking methods and procedures
- Understanding of food safety practices
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent time management skills
RESPONSIBILITLIES
- Prepare ingredients for cooking, including chopping vegetables, butchering meat, or preparing sauces
- Cook food in various utensils or grillers
- Ensure all food is cooked to the appropriate temperature and meets quality standards
- Maintain a clean and orderly kitchen by sanitizing surfaces, taking out trash, and organizing supplies
- Monitor food supplies and notify the Chef or Supervisor when supplies are running low
- Assist with inventory control and ordering supplies as needed
- Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards
WORK SCHEDULE
7.5 hours/day - Monday-Friday. This is a temporary position with an immediate start.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
he actual physical activities of the position are too numerous to list, but would generally include, and not be limited to, the following:
- The ability to lift and carry at all times a minimum of 45 lbs., generally food and other supplies
- Must possess manual dexterity to operate and clean standard institutional equipment
- The ability to distinguish colors
- The ability to taste and smell food
- This position requires the ability to stand for extended periods of time
- The ability to climb, bend and stoop. This position requires the ability to perform repetitive bending and stooping to operate standard institutional equipment
- The ability to tolerate standard cleaning solutions used in the childcare environment and food service environment such as choline bleach
