Adams & Martin Group is searching for Legal Assistants or Paralegals with Chapter 11 Bankruptcy experience to work in a law firm on a temporary, reoccuring basis. The law firm is located in Chesterfield, Missouri, and the position would be 100% onsite.
The law firm would love to utilize temporary legal staff for when they get ready to file Chapter 11 Bankruptcy cases. These would be true projects, lasting 1-2 weeks but would reoccur.
Duties / Responsibilities:
- Get list of creditors with addresses and put them on a matrix that you file with the court
- Familiarity with PACER
- File pleadings where you collect information from the client, lists of insurance policies and their coverages, lists of employees and wages
- Ask court for authority to make payments where money was earned before filing
- A lot of foot work on front end
- Same pleading every time but different facts
- Schedule of assets and liabilities - taking information from client that is usually unorganized and condensing into a court form
- Send out notices and pleadings to a large list of people on the matrix
- Handling mailings - have to serve every creditor of the business - sometimes 1,000 creditors
Pay is commensurate with experience and is hourly. Paychecks are weekly and paid out every Friday.
