Recreation Leader I or II – OSTP, Afterschool, Summer Camp
Overview
In pursuit of service excellence, the Temporary Year-Round Recreation Leaders perform technical recreation work. Recreation Leaders may assist, plan, lead, instruct and guide youth 5-17 years old from all backgrounds in arts and crafts, sports, games, music, drama, cooking, physical fitness, and field trips at an Out of School Time Program / Afterschool site and/or Summer Camps. Our Recreation Leaders work Monday to Friday, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. during the school year and/or up to 30 hours per week in the summer with shifts between the hours of 7 a.m-6:30 p.m. Some evening and weekend hours as needed for meetings, training, or planning and additional hours may be available to assist with other recreation programs. Enthusiasm, flexibility, and excellent customer service and communication skills are needed to be successful in this position.

You will have the support of and work under the direction of a Recreation Leader Ill, Recreation Coordinator or Recreation Manager in the planning of a well-rounded recreational program. You will execute programming that meets high standards of excellence.
The Opportunity
- Plan and implement sport and recreation programs, drama, music, dancing, and arts and crafts programs to ensure a variety of activities and events are made available in the afterschool program or summer camp.
- Ensure all safety precautions and guidelines are followed for all programs and activities;
- Ensure program participants are properly supervised at all times;
- Prepare for recreational activities at one or more sites on a particular date: open site, set- up equipment and program materials, ensure rules and regulations are followed, maintain order, store equipment and materials at the end of activities, and secure the site;
- Complete incident/illness report forms and contact parents as required;
- Participate in staff meetings, in-service training sessions, and workshops;
- Perform related work as required.
