FORT VALLEY STATE UNIVERSITY (FVSU), a state and land-grant institution of the University System of Georgia, invites applications for the position of Temporary Systems Administrator.
Fort Valley State University, the only 1890 land-grant university in Georgia, is a comprehensive institution that provides an education to over 2,800 students including graduate students. The university is located in the town of Fort Valley in Peach County, the original site of the state's peach industry. Its 1,365-acre (5.52 km2) campus is Georgia's second-largest public university in area.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develops and implements standard operating procedures for server hardware and software maintenance.
- Provide IT systems administration in a Redhat Enterprise Linux and Microsoft Windows environment.
- Install and configure server devices and systems software from multiple vendors.
- Administrates capacity and performance of server systems. Focuses on multiple aspects of server operations across multiple platforms.
- Use troubleshooting techniques to resolve technical problems of a moderate to high scope and complexity to include the integration of hardware and operating systems (OS).
- Resolve problem affecting server performance. Validates and adjusts server configuration as needed. Observes and controls the status and performance of all components of server/system facilities. Generates server utilization/trending/error reports as requested.
- Maintains control of server devices. Control access to, and authorization level of devices. Maintains effective security and backup system.
- Work with Cybersecurity professionals to maintain security requirements and provide documentation on advanced IT processes and procedures and other tasks as assigned.
- Understanding and knowledge of Hypervisor (VMware), and Windows Server internals to include DNS, AD, and server replication methods.
- Understanding of RAID, SAN, NAS, data backup uses and technologies.
- Systems are operational 24x7 and occasionally require work effort beyond standard work hours.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- 2+ years of experience in server administration and maintenance
- Analytical mind and the ability to learn new technologies quickly.
- Ability to work part-time
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Server+
- Experience with Salto Access Controls
- Experience in Higher Education environments
