Job Overview:
The Test Engineer is responsible for advancing and maintaining end-of-line and in-process testing systems across all manufacturing locations. This role involves statistical analysis of test parameters to enhance product acceptance rates and improve defect detection. Additionally, the engineer will work on improving and repairing mechanical/electrical design features, developing calibration routines, and troubleshooting electrical controls and hydraulic systems. The role may also involve recommending new test equipment and controls/data acquisition solutions, including cost and implementation planning.

Job Overview:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and enhance end-of-line product testing equipment to increase capability, capacity, and reliability.
- Recommend and implement improvements in production methods, equipment performance, and final product quality.
- Develop strategies for test system maintenance, including replacement parts, preventive measures, and inspection frequencies.
- Collaborate with customer engineering teams to develop and finalize test strategies.
- Prepare and submit new product test validation data for customer approval.
- Coordinate test development for new product launches, aligning with implementation timelines.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to operational capability, quality, capacity, and test machine reliability.
- Provide regular updates and status reports to the Engineering Test Systems Manager.
- Ensure adherence to quality management system policies, procedures, and instructions related to end-of-line testing.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience with automatic transmission processes.
- Strong understanding of engineering mechanics, physics, hydraulics, electronics, and computer software.
- Familiarity with automatic transaxle/transmission operational theory.
- Experience with instrumentation testing equipment and data acquisition/control systems.
- Proficiency in programming real-time applications (PLC, LabVIEW).
- Strong analytical abilities, particularly in problem-solving complex and unusual issues.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and accurately estimate project completion time and costs.
Skills:
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting manufacturing documents (e.g., safety rules, schematics, manuals).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for report writing and team collaboration.
- Proficiency in computer operation, including word processing, spreadsheets, and database software.
- Proficiency in statistical methods and data interpretation.
Physical and Environmental Requirements:
- Ability to perform tasks requiring standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, and lifting up to 25 pounds.
- Exposure to moving mechanical parts, electrical shock risk, and moderate noise levels in the work environment.
