Position Summary:
Reporting to the Program Manager, the Test Lab Technician will assist in duties ranging from electrical wiring, mechanical assembly, test set up and testing of various products, under the guidance of Product Engineering and the mentorship of the Senior Lab Technician. The ideal candidate will have basic electrical knowledge. The Test Lab Technician will work in a collaborative environment and assist in providing exceptional service to internal and external customers in a constantly changing technical environment.
Essential Functions / Responsibilities:
Product Development Support
Ø Assist with assembly of prototype components when necessary
Ø Test, evaluate, and document product compliance based on engineering requirements to support new product development
Ø Participate in cross-functional product development teams
Continuous Improvement
Ø Assist in the creation and maintenance of electrical test lab documentation
Ø Maintain constant focus on safety and 5S due to electrical and moving hazards
Ø Assist with developing effective test procedures for standard products
Ø Assist with evaluation and selection of test equipment to improve lab capability and productivity.
Knowledge, Skills & Experiences
The ideal candidate for the Test Lab Technician position will have the following educational background and experience:
Ø A.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or equivalent certification, preferred.
Ø 1 to 2 years of experience in the Electrical Industry, preferred.
Ø Capable of assisting in trouble shooting (electrical and mechanical) issues and developing an efficient solution to resolve problems
Ø Strong verbal and written communication skills, must be able to communicate with internal and external customers effectively
Ø Ability to read assembly drawings, wiring diagrams and schematic diagrams
Ø Ability to prioritize, plan, and complete assigned tasks in a timely manner
Ø Ability to identify connection points that are labeled by either letter, number, or color
Ø Proficient computer skills. Should be familiar with windows-based applications for post processing of test results (MS excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Ø Ability to travel occasionally
