CTG is seeking to fill a Test Specialist opening for our client in Poughkeepsie, NY.
Location: Poughkeepsie, NY
Duration: 12 months
Overview:
This is a 2nd shift role (2:00-4:00PM start time). This position is for a role within the System Z Engineering System test organization where we test large mainframe servers. The work involved provides a wide range of technical experiences. The candidate would be working in one of our many functional test verification squads, each with a very different set of responsibilities. The job could include hands-on hardware work, system operation, running programs, system configuration changes, troubleshooting, defect reporting and data collection. We are seeking someone with the drive to find machine bugs with troubleshooting skills, good communication, a team player and a desire to learn.
Duties:
+ This position involves a lot of hands-on work that will include plugging processor chip modules (DCMs) & memory DIMMs into the processor drawers on a variety of machines.
+ The physical work will include moving IO adapter cards into and out of IO cages, potentially running cables, swapping of many different part types.
+ Careful tracking and inventory of parts will be done.
+ Most of the work will come to the candidate in a ticketing system.
Skills:
+ Open and quick communication skills (verbal and written) are required.
+ We are a rapid moving squad where cross-department communications and tasks must be handled in a timely manner.
+ Some basic knowledge of computer hardware and operating systems in general.
+ Knowing how to navigate through file systems and the ability to move and collect data would be a plus.
Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required.
