Intertek, a leading provider of quality and safety solutions to many of the world's top-recognized brands and companies, is actively seeking a Technician to join our Plastics Testing Lab at Pittsfield, MA. This individual will be a critical member of our operations team responsible for providing a diverse range of plastics testing and characterization services to global polymer manufacturers, compounders, fabricators, and end-users.

What are we looking for?
Under immediate supervision, this position is an entry level position responsible for performing standard tests related to the characterization of plastics according to standardized test methods. Equipment and test methods are specified, and routine procedures are followed.
Salary & Benefits Information
The base wage or salary range for this position is $17.00 - $19.00 per hour. Individual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related reasons.

What you'll do:
- Prepare and setup test equipment in proper sequence, to include use of notebooks where applicable, to obtain proper operation.
- Ask for required checks and project proofs during testing.
- Perform tests for data as requested by the customer.
- Record data and write reports in standardized formats.
- Report any observations, for example inconsistent data, to management.
- Performing other work as required.

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED and 1+ year of relevant experience or the equivalent in terms of education, experience and training.
- Ability to utilize basic shop equipment and various hand tools
- Ability to review, understand, and convey technical information in an effective manner
- Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out test instructions
- Ability to deal with standard testing situations with only occasional or no variables
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment
- Strong communication skills, in both verbal and written formats
- Must be quality driven and customer focused.
- Microsoft Office software proficiency, including Word, Excel and Outlook
Preferred Requirements & Qualifications:
- Injection molding experience
