# Project Overview:
Join us as we make history at the Hanford Vit Plant, known as the Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant. We are designing and building a one-of-a-kind facility that will turn radioactive and chemical waste left over from World War II and Cold War plutonium production into a form safe for disposal. Your efforts will help protect the nearby Columbia River and the communities, salmon, and wildlife along its shorelines throughout the Northwest.
Sitting at the confluence of the Columbia, Snake and Yakima rivers near two mountain ranges, our community provides access to year-round outdoor recreation, 300 days of sun a year, more than 200 wineries within a 50-mile radius, and the amenities of large cities just a three-hour drive (or short flight) to Seattle and Portland.
# Job Summary:
In this role, you will provide knowledge, expertise, input, training, and consultative support for facility commissioning and startup. You will interface with engineering and other partner teams, and assist in program development, work planning and packaging, turnover coordination, material management, quantities and quality control, and environmental safety and health. You will be an essential resource for specialized technical advice. #LI-EH1
Telework Designation:
Full-Time In Office: This position is a full-time role located in the Richland, Washington project office, and works a 9/80 schedule, offering every other Friday off.
# Major Responsibilities:
General
+ Ensures support of basic Startup Specialist duties of installation configuration validation and work package development
+ Ensures technical direction is provided to craft completing commissioning and startup (CSU) activities, subcontractor field support, field Inspections, completing ITRs for CSU activities, and quantity tracking
Work Planning & Packaging
+ Liaison with Engineering, Quality, Project Management, and Client as required to ensure compliance with contract, regulatory and design requirements
+ Evaluates the flow down of requirements from contract documents, project QAM and Graded Approach documents and assists in risk management evaluations.
+ Provides input to project management, engineering, and construction to ensure startup requirements are incorporated into project activities, including review of project designs and construction to ensure plant operability and operating personnel safety.
+ Prepares administrative, component and system test procedures and maintenance and/or operating procedures
+ Prepares condition reports and non-conformance reports to document system/component deficiencies
+ Builds schedules and assists with planning of CSU execution activities including project proposals, schedules and resource requirements
+ Plans, guides, or prepares project administrative and technical documents as required for startup, maintenance, operation, or testing
+ Plans, guides, or prepares project hazard and environmental compliance assessments, as directed
Turnover Coordination
+ Liaises with the Field Engineer as required to support component/system turnover
+ Participates in Construction to CSU turnover walkdowns for assign areas of responsibility
Material Mgmt. & Quantities
+ Initiates requisitions for field purchases and prepares quantity takeoffs of field purchased material and equipment
+ Tracks field purchases and other purchases required for CSU using procurement systems or other database programs as required
+ Provides technical administration and supervision of assigned subcontracts
Quality Control
+ Reviews project design data to ensure completeness to extent required to support CSU activities
+ Performs walkdowns to validate that the system configuration is in accordance with the design
+ Performs and/or monitors testing of equipment to assure conformance with specifications and compliance with test procedures, that work methods are undertaken safely and activities are supported to meet schedule and cost
+ Ensures compliance with contract requirements
ES&H
+ Identifies and elevates ES&H issues in the field and is a visible 'walk the talk' leader in good ES&H practices
# Education and Experience Requirements:
+ Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience
# Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
+ Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical (if located at the construction site), and background check which includes verification of employment and education.
+ Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy badge for access to the Hanford Site.
+ Must possess the right to work and remain in the United States without sponsorship.
+ Strong interpersonal skills, able to interact closely and frequently with engineering, client management, operations and maintenance personnel while maintaining necessary levels of commercial awareness.
+ Must have previous experience with requirements analysis
+ Must be able to walk at least 3 miles per day over uneven ground and be able to climb stair towers 75’ in height at least 6 times per day to access project equipment.
