About the Job
Skilled Nursing Facility located in Ocean County, New Jerseyis seeking an experienced (IP/ADON) for our Skilled Nursing Facility. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in a long term care setting, and experience in training and leading clinical staff. The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON)/ Infection Control Specialist aids the Director of Nursing with all nursing tasks. The ADON is responsible for helping with education for all staff members. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational and communication skills. They will also have adept interpersonal skills and the ability to manage and empower staff at various levels. Must be knowledgeable in regulatory and infection control compliance. The ADON must be able to step into different roles to support the overall Department of Nursing.
DUTIES:
- Assist the DON with management responsibilities and in maintaining quality of care;
- Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, coordinate, and direct our infection control program in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines that govern such requirements in nursing care facilities.
- Ensure that the facility is in compliance with current CDC, OSHA, and local regulations concerning infection control or standard/universal precautions.
- Develop, maintain, and periodically update infection control precautions and aseptic technique that successfully correct problem areas.
- Monitor infection control practices and procedures to ensure that all personnel are implementing our standard operating procedures for tasks involving exposure to blood/body fluids.
- Serve on, participate in, and attend Infection Control Committee meetings.
- Monitoring the health of patients to identify signs of infection and disease progression.
- Educating patients about proper hygiene techniques and encouraging them to practice good health habits such as hand washing, dressing changes, etc.
- Administering medications, performing medical procedures, and providing other patient care services as directed by a physician or other medical authority, such as an infectious disease specialist.
- Prescribing medications to treat infections or diseases based on results of cultures and other diagnostic tests.
- Diagnosing and managing infectious disease cases in collaboration with other healthcare professionals
- Providing nursing care to patients who are hospitalized for treatment of infectious diseases such as HIV/AIDS or hepatitis.
- Responsible for Wound/Skin Rounds weekly
- Assist with compliance and ensure effective communication with all levels of nursing staff
- Meet the nursing medical needs of all residents
- Coordinate and direct the total planning for nursing services
- Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of general nursing theory and practice
- Responsible for the accurate and timely completion of medical records
- Assist with interviewing, hiring and orienting of new nursing staff
- Oversee daily staffing process
- Maintain flexibility with work schedule to address unpredictable needs
REQUIREMENTS:
- Current New Jersey LPN/RN license required
- Min. 3 yrs. exp. in Long-Term Care settings
- Interest in Geriatrics
- 2 years management experience preferred
- 1 year staff education experience preferred
- Excellent Communication Skills required
- Evidence of basic leadership skills and supervision
