Madigan Army Medical Center is seeking aTherapeutic Radiologic Technologist.
The facility is one of four Level II Trauma Centers in Washington State and participates in unique partnerships with civilian facilities to provide care to non-beneficiary trauma victims beyond the gates of Joint Base Lewis-McChord.
At Madigan you will practice alongside civilian and military health care experts and experience unique professional opportunities. Our staff serves by caring for our military but are not subject to military requirements. We operate within safe staffing standards - giving you time to provide exceptional care.
Joint Base Lewis-McChord, its affiliated clinics and dental clinic are located at Fort Lewis, Washington, near the city of Tacoma. Madigan AMC is one of only three designated Level Two trauma centers within the U.S. Medical Command.

**Duties**
+ Plans and conducts evaluations of work operations involving potentially hazardous environmental conditions.
+ Identifies and evaluates conditions which may be hazardous to worker's health.
+ Assesses workplace hazards. Collects samples.
+ Helps develop contingency plans for industrial accidents.
+ Develops processes and procedures for occupational health controls.
+ Checks data entered into the Defense Occupational Health and Environmental Health Readiness System Industrial Hygiene (DOEHRS-IH) central data base.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. **Basic Requirements for Therapeutic Radiologic Technologist:**
Qualifying educational programs for radiography and radiation therapy technology are available in accredited colleges, universities, hospitals, medical schools, or postsecondary technical or vocational schools. Education or training from programs based in hospitals must have been from those hospitals that were accredited at the time of the education or training by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Hospitals or by the American Osteopathic Association.
**Public Law 97-35 requires that persons who administer radiologic procedures meet the credentialing standards of 42 CFR Part 75 as follows:**
Must have successfully completed an educational program that meets or exceeds the standards described in that regulation and is accredited by an organization recognized by the Department of Education **AND** be certified as a **Therapeutic** radiographer in their field.
The following also meet these requirements:
A. Employed as radiologic personnel by the Federal Government PRIOR TO the effective date of the regulation (January 13, 1986). (Note: You must submit evidence with your application of current or fully satisfactory performance or certification of such from a licensed practitioner such as a Doctor of Medicine, osteopathy, dentistry, podiatry, or chiropractic who prescribes radiologic procedures to others.)
**OR**
B. Employed as radiologic personnel by the Federal Government AFTER the effective date of the regulation (January 13, 1986), but (a) received training from institutions in a State or foreign jurisdiction that did not accredit training in that particular field at the time of graduation OR (b) practiced in a State or foreign jurisdiction that did not license that particular field or did not allow special eligibility to take a licensure examination for those who did not graduate from an accredited educational program. (Note: You must submit evidence with your application to prove training, experience, and competence. Examples of acceptable proof: transcripts, letter of recommendation, etc.)
**_In addition to the basic requirements above, to qualify for this position, you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:_**
**Specialized Experience:** One year of specialized experience which includes performing radiation treatments on patients, conducting patient assessments, assisting in the handling of radioactive sources and the operation of therapeutic equipment. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).
**OR**
**Education** : Two and a half years of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as such as Radiation Therapy.
**OR**
**Combination of Education and Experience** : A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total semester hours minus 18) by 9. Add the two percentages.

**FOREIGN EDUCATION:** If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
