Job Summary:
The Therapist at our Los Angeles-based drug and alcohol treatment center is responsible for providing high-quality, compassionate care to clients at the Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) levels of care. The Therapist will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to deliver evidence-based therapeutic interventions aimed at supporting clients in their recovery journey. This role involves conducting individual, group, and family therapy sessions, developing treatment plans, and collaborating with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care.
Key Responsibilities:

Assessment and Treatment Planning:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of clients' mental health and substance use histories to inform individualized treatment plans.
- Collaborate with clients to develop realistic, measurable goals and objectives for their treatment plans.
- Regularly review and update treatment plans based on client progress and changing needs.

Therapeutic Interventions:
- Provide individual therapy sessions using evidence-based approaches (e.g., CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing) tailored to clients' specific needs.
- Facilitate group therapy sessions focused on addiction recovery, coping strategies, relapse prevention, and other relevant topics.
- Conduct family therapy sessions to address family dynamics, communication, and support in the context of recovery.

Case Management:
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all client interactions, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
- Coordinate care with other members of the treatment team, including physicians, nurses, case managers, and peer support specialists.
- Assist clients in accessing additional resources, such as vocational training, housing assistance, and support groups.

Crisis Intervention:
- Provide crisis intervention services as needed, including risk assessment, safety planning, and referrals to higher levels of care.
- Work collaboratively with the treatment team to manage clients experiencing acute psychiatric symptoms or high-risk behaviors.

Compliance and Ethical Practice:
- Adhere to all legal, ethical, and regulatory guidelines, including HIPAA and state-specific requirements for mental health and substance use treatment.
- Participate in regular supervision and professional development activities to maintain and enhance clinical skills.
- Contribute to the center's quality improvement initiatives and participate in case consultations and team meetings.
Qualifications:

Education:
- Master's degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or a related field.
- Associate therapist in the state of California as an AMFT, ACSW, APCC, or similar.
- Licensed (or license-eligible) in the state of California as an LMFT, LCSW, LPCC, or similar.

Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience providing therapy in a substance use treatment setting, preferably at the IOP/PHP level of care.
- Strong understanding of addiction treatment modalities and recovery principles.

Skills:
- Excellent clinical skills, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning.
- Proficient in facilitating individual, group, and family therapy sessions.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with clients.
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Other Requirements:
- Must pass a background check and drug screening.
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
