Position Overview: Treats patients in an outpatient setting from referred physicians from within and from outside MKMG. Essential Duties and Responsibilities (including but not limited to the following):Performs Initial Evaluations of referred patients.Establishes a treatment plan for each patient.Directly supervises the treatment plan and the participation of the aides role in the plan.Performs necessary paperwork to gain pre-certification of visits from appropriate insurance company. Revaluates the patient as needed.Dictates daily notes in patients EMR. Signs daily notes the next day.Attends Continuing Education classes annually.Maintains patient confidentiality.Performs related work as required.Typical Physical Demands:Requires full range of body motion. Frequent standing and walking for prolonged periods of time. Occasionally requires assisting patient on and off treatment table. Requires ability to use gym equipment, sometimes involving bending, stooping and also demonstrating exercises to the patient.Typical Working Conditions: Work is primarily done in treatment rooms followed by directing and instructing patient treatment programs on various pieces of equipment or on a mat table or plinth.Education and Experience:Graduation from a School of Physical Therapy accredited by the American Physical Therapy Association; AND five years of practical physical therapy experience with a preference in orthopedics and sports medicine; AND applicable management experience; OR any combination of training and experience.Employees in the classification must be registered as a Physical Therapist in the State of New York.Considerable knowledge of the principles, methods, materials, and equipment of physical therapy.Considerable knowledge of anatomy and physiology as they relate to physical therapy.Considerable knowledge of possible hazards to patients during treatment and of necessary precautionary measures.Ability to supervise staff of clinicians.Ability to interpret correctly patients' reactions to all types of physical therapy treatment.Ability to determine and to instruct others in determining the proper length and intensity of individual treatments.Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with the physically and mentally disabled patients.Ability to maintain adequate work reports and to prepare periodic reports of treatments.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with physical therapy subordinates, professional employees, and patients.All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, ethnicity, color, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, or protected veteran status.
