About the Job
Spark Homestead is a standalone residential treatment program specializing in autism, located in Payson, Utah. It is tailored to be an all-girls environment, for teens in 9th - 12th grades, helping neurodiverse females to gain self-identity, confidence, and resilience! Besides treatment, we provide a full curriculum, year-round school as part of helping our students discover a love of learning and confidence in their education. We are accredited by the Utah State Board of Education as a special education school, and utilize instructional pedagogy that is centered on project-based learning.
Schedule:
- Part-time. Internship hours will be coordinated and matched to your university requirements and supervisory Therapist.
- Shift times will be during general business hours, Monday - Friday. Group therapy sessions are held on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. These are mandatory sessions.
- Internship intended start date is Summer 2024.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Under the supervision of an experienced, licensed Therapist, will serve as Intern Therapist for a part-time caseload of up to 3 students.
- Provide intense assessment and specific treatment planning in collaboration with parents, students, and Treatment Team - taking ownership of the Master Treatment Plans to lay out goals and objectives.
- Provide 1 hour of individual therapy and 1 hour of family therapy weekly for each student and provide crisis intervention, as needed.
- Plan and conduct group therapy session, as coordinated with supervisory Therapist.
- Lead weekly Treatment Team meetings to plan and coordinate the therapeutic needs and goals/objectives of each student on caseload, and ensure these plans are being followed as indicated.
- Effectively communicate with parents/guardians and associated professionals in a timely and situation-based manner - keeping them informed of significant events or changes. Assist parents and other family members to become involved in their child's treatment and care.
Knowledge and Abilities:
- Understanding of neurodiversity, with familiarity of proven clinical theories and applications for trauma treatment, polyvagal theory, executive functioning deficits, learning and processing differences, distress tolerance, rigid thinking and mood disorders.
- Excellence in flexibility and adaptability to handle "curve balls" in treatment.
- Good computer skills, with ability to learn and utilize the company's internal technical tools.
- A learning mindset, always seeking to improve and develop.
Qualifications:
- Current MSW, MFT, or CMHC student.
- Must have completed requirements in 1st or 2nd year of graduate school to begin internship.
- Must be at least 21 years of age or older to apply.
- Proficiency and fluency in speaking, understanding, reading, and writing English.
