Position: Remote Timber Truss Designer
Location: Remote (Within the United States)
Job Summary:
As a Remote Timber Truss Designer, you will be responsible for creating precise, efficient, and cost-effective timber truss designs for various construction projects. This position requires a strong understanding of structural design principles, timber construction, and proficiency in design software. You will work closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure that all designs meet customer specifications, building codes, and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design Timber Trusses: Create custom timber truss designs for residential, commercial, and industrial applications, ensuring compliance with relevant codes and standards (e.g., IBC, IRC, ANSI, or local codes).
- Software Proficiency: Use specialized software to design trusses and generate detailed drawings, schematics, and material lists.
- Collaborate with Engineers: Work with structural engineers to confirm that truss designs are structurally sound and meet all necessary specifications.
- Project Review: Review customer orders, blueprints, and other documentation to develop accurate truss designs based on client needs, building requirements, and load calculations.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure that all designs adhere to quality standards, safety regulations, and environmental considerations.
- Cost Optimization: Optimize truss designs to ensure cost-effectiveness without compromising on structural integrity or functionality.
- Client Communication: Communicate with clients to clarify project specifications, resolve design issues, and provide technical support when needed.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of designs, revisions, and any correspondence with clients or team members.
Requirements:
- Experience:
- 2+ years of experience in timber truss design, structural design, or a related field.
- Experience using design software such as Mitek, Alpine, or similar truss design programs.
- Strong understanding of timber construction, load calculations, and building codes.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in design software CadWork.
- Attention to Detail: Strong ability to create accurate and detailed designs with a focus on quality and safety.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot and resolve design challenges in a timely manner.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with clients, engineers, and project managers.
- Self-Motivated: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Remote Work Experience: Previous experience in a remote work setting is preferred, as well as strong organizational and time management skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with timber material properties and sustainable design practices.
- Experience with structural analysis or finite element analysis (FEA) software.
- Knowledge of relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations.
