Tool & Die Development Engineer - Plastic Extrusion
We are looking for an experienced Tool & Die Development Engineer to join our growing team! The Tool & Die Development Engineer will be responsible for various aspects of tooling design and troubleshooting in the field of thermoplastic extrusion including new and co-extrusion tooling for single screw extrusion machines. The engineer also plays a crucial role in troubleshooting existing tooling and downstream equipment, applying their electrical and general mechanical skills and knowledge.

Responsibilities for the Tool & Die Development Engineer:
- Design new thermoplastic extrusion tooling for single screw extrusion machines, employing vacuum sizing techniques.
- Design new co-extrusion tooling for multiple single screw extrusion machines.
- Troubleshoot existing tooling and secondary downstream equipment, utilizing both electrical and general mechanical skills.
- Modify and alter existing and new tooling using die grinders, milling machines, and lathes.
- Proficiently utilize CAD design software to create detailed designs and optimize tooling efficiency.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of tooling with production processes.
- Conduct research and stay updated on industry trends and advancements in plastic extrusion tooling technology, implementing innovative solutions to enhance performance and productivity.
Requirements of the Tool & Die Development Engineer:
- Minimum 3-5+ years of Tool & Die Development/Design experience in the Plastics industry.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, PolymerEngineering, or related fields preferred
- Must be familiar with Rigid PVC, Flexible PVC, ABS, ASA, HDPE, LDPE, PP, TPRs/TPOs, PC and other engineered resins.
- Extensive experience in designing thermoplastic extrusion tooling, preferably for single screw extrusion machines.
- Strong knowledge of vacuum sizing techniques and co-extrusion processes.
- Ability to modify and alter tooling using die grinders, milling machines, and lathes.
- Proficiency in CAD design software, such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to innovate and optimize tooling designs for improved performance and efficiency.
