Tool & Die Machinist at Maintenance, CNC, Welding

TOPS Staffing is currently looking to hire an experienced Tool & Die Maker for a client in Oakmont, Pa. The primary function of this job is to do repair work on dies used in the production process. 

This position will involve working in a machine shop environment, utilizing both manual and cnc equipment to maintain, repair and build dies used in a plastic extrusion process. 

Job Details:

Contract to hire opportunity
Daylight shift – Monday to Friday schedule
Hours: 7am to 3:30pm
Overtime is available in this position.
Pay: Based on experience but in the range of $22to $29hr

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Fit and assemble parts to make, repair, or modify tools and dies, using machine tools and hand tools.
• Set up and operate drill presses to drill and tap holes in parts for assembly.
• Smooth and polish flat and contoured surfaces of parts or tools.
• Inspect finished dies for smoothness, contour conformity, and defects.
• Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances of finished parts for conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as calipers, gauge blocks, micrometers, and dial indicators.
• Conduct test runs with completed tools or dies to ensure that parts meet specifications; adjust as necessary.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Prior experience working in a tool room or machine shop
• Experience manufacturing tooling to blueprint specifications
• Experience with set up and operation of conventional tool room machinery
• Experience assembling and troubleshooting a wide variety of complex mold tooling
• Strong problem solving skills

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods standing
• Occasional heavy lifting, moving molds and dies
• Will get a bit dirty in this position, taking apart and reinstalling molds.
