Responsibilities You will provide maintenance and repair services on all of Equipment Maintenance Center (EMC) special tools, including evaluating, diagnostics and basic overhaul, inventory and issue of tools to support the production shops. You will maintain a neat, clean, safe, and organized tool room area to ensure proper storage of hand/power tools and equipment. You will monitor tool record for tools returned/not returned within a reasonable period of time and advises employee /supervisor, as appropriate, requesting return of the item/tools, requisitioning new Tools as required. You will work with EMC department to ensure the hazmat records are kept up to date, the shops have support paint and materials to prevent a work stoppage and all Federal Regulations are followed when dealing with hazmat through the tool room. You will assist EMC Production Shops and Logistics in researching/obtaining information from equipment manufactures/vendors for the purpose of procuring tools and special equipment needed in the equipment repair operations. Education Additional Information This announcement uses the Science and Technology Reinvention Labs Mission Support direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to certain positions in the competitive service. This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program. This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required. Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift objects weighing up to 40 pounds, and operate vibrating tools such as pneumatic and electric impact wrenches, dollies and hand trucks. Receives assistance from co-workers in physical movement of heavier equipment or accessories. Work requires sitting, kneeling, crouching, stooping, pulling, pushing, climbing and assuming strained or awkward positions to accomplish work for long periods. May be required to work at high elevations with proper safety equipment. The normal use of hands, arms and legs is required. Normal vision and hearing, with or without corrective devices is required. Work may involve repetitive motion actions in accomplishing certain work.
