Requirements / Qualifications
The Track & Field Head coaching position is currently being offered at American Canyon Middle School. Candidates should be experienced in the sport, have coaching experience and a resume of working with student-athletes. American Canyon Middle School desires to select a coach who is committed to developing young boys/girls both on and off the field. Applicants will be required to obtain First Aid/CPR, NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching, NFHS Sudden Cardiac Arrest, NFHS Concussion in Sports and NFHS Heat and Illness prevention, as well as all other Napa Valley Unified School District Human Resources required documents. The season begins in April for 5 weeks. The coach receives a district stipend at the end of the season. Duties include a five week schedule, conducting daily practice, managing equipment, travelling with the team to away games, developing positive relationships with parents and players, and planning an end of season awards recognition. Must have basic knowledge of the following: 1) Character-building aspects of sports, including techniques and methods of teaching and reinforcing the core values comprising sportsmanship and good character; 2) Knowledge of physical capacities and limitations of the age group coached; 3) Coaching principles related to educational philosophy, adolescent; psychology, nutrition, risk management and the rules and strategies of the sport;
