Summary: The Traffic Control Supervisor will oversee traffic flow and ensure safety for workers and motorists at construction sites. The Traffic Control Supervisor will oversee operations related to road and highway telecommunications construction projects. This individual will oversee maintaining work zone safety from start to finish. This includes consistent communication with the foreman, supervisors, and managers to ensure all teams follow all safety protocols, while maintaining compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
- Traffic control: Direct traffic at construction sites to ensure the safety of workers, pedestrians, and motorists by using devices like cones and signs to direct traffic, as well as flagging to coordinate flagging duties
- Team management: Lead a crew of traffic control specialists, providing training and mentorship, and ensuring all crews meet productivity goals
- Safety: Ensure the work zone is safe, following safety protocols, and reporting any potential safety issues, as well as reporting any incidents or issues to supervisors promptly
- Communication: Communicate effectively with construction crews to coordinate traffic control efforts as well as with customers and other staff to coordinate work and keep them informed of policies and procedures
- Planning: Create traffic routing plans that comply with local, state, and federal regulations
- Documentation: Compile daily logs
- Maintenance: Maintain traffic control equipment and keep the job site free of hazards
- Transportation: Drive company vehicles to transport equipment and staff
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, and/or QUALIFICATIONS
- Traffic control supervisors should have knowledge of traffic control procedures and regulations. They should also have strong communication skills and be able to work under pressure.
- Experience in construction site traffic control is required. Traffic Control Supervisor Certification required (CCA or ATSSA certification)
- Familiarity with traffic laws, regulations, and safety standards; experience with traffic control devices and equipment.
- Clean Driving Record (MVR)
- Knowledge of quality inspection and control procedures
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while prioritizing safety
- Strong communication skills to interact with diverse groups of people
- Background in telecommunications construction
- Understanding of basic electrical components related to traffic control systems
