A. Position Summary:
The trail maintenance crew member will assist the trail maintenance crew supervisor in the execution of the daily work plan. This individual is responsible for assisting in general trail maintenance, installing and maintaining erosion control measures, participating in revegetation efforts, and any other environmental related activity. The trail maintenance crew member will be responsible for implementing and practicing safety throughout each and every day.
B. Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Determine the correct tools needed to complete assigned tasks and keep track of the tools to ensure they return at the end of the day and are properly stored for the night.
- Safely execute all functions by evaluating immediate surroundings and ensuring that the proper PPE is being used for self and others.
- Ensure that there is a clear understanding of the requested tasks and ask for clarification when needed.
- Ability to comprehend company policies and procedures.
- Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve in the field.
- Maintain a working knowledge of the tools and equipment related to completing assigned tasks.
- Has a clear understanding of summer access roads and travel paths.Contribute to team effort by participating in Job Sharing, assuming responsibility for the cleanliness of the resort and safety of guests and employees; participating in safety meetings; accepting diverse assignments; maintain a positive and friendly attitude and demeanor in all internal and external interactions.
- Meet service level objectives and department goals as set forth by immediate supervisor.
- Ability to be flexible with working hours and schedule.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to clients, customers, and other employees
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instruction
- Deal with problems involving variables within standardized situations
C. Responsibilities to Safety:
- Protect the safety of self, co-workers, and guests at all times.
- Report any potentially harmful equipment or situations to the immediate supervisor without delay.
- Report safety-related accidents and incidents at once to immediate supervisor.
- Follow all company and department safety policies and procedures.
- Operate tools and equipment in a safe manner that will not lead to injury to yourself or others.
- Drive in accordance with the law and resort policies.
D. Physical Demands/Work Environment:
- Hike uneven terrain
- Work in elevation, often on steep slopes
- Reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, etc.
- Frequently lift and move things up to 60 pounds
- Certain vision abilities required for this job include depth perception for equipment operation.
- Moving mechanic parts
- Outdoor weather conditions
- Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, along with dry and dusty conditions
- The noise level in the workplace is usually loud.
E. Minimum/Preferred Requirements
Education:
- High School Diploma/Related equivalency
- 1 year of previous construction, landscaping, or trail work experience
- Valid state Driver's License; Resort Certification on any necessary equipment
