- Continuously learn, share, and implement improvements in all processes and responsibilities as needed to enhance quality and productivity.
- Takes ownership for the repairing of company owned trailers to meet our internal repair standards.
- Ability to complete task’s/ jobs within Standard Repair Times regularly.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose needed repairs with limited assistance.
- Communicates with shop manager and assistant manager immediately if additional work is needed.
- Maintain a high level of productivity.
- Clock in and out of work orders correctly and accurate documentation of work performed.
- Accurately inform the parts department and parts needed.
- Report any concerns within the service department to management.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 2+ years' experience on Semi-Trailer repair
- Certified DOT Inspector (Pass DOT testing)
- Must have the proper hand tools and equipment that would allow a person to perform all of the above tasks. Major shop equipment and large shop tools will be provided.
- Ability to perform physical requirements of the position.
- Have a complete and thorough knowledge of DOT guidelines and requirements as well as PM process and requirements.
- Have sufficient experience or proper training to perform basic air brake maintenance: Complete brake jobs, S-cam bushing replacements, brake chamber replacements and air valve replacements.
- Have the ability to diagnose and repair ABS braking systems.
- Demonstrate a basic understanding of spring and air ride suspensions. Proper alignment procedures, R&R torque arms, equalizers, and springs.
- Have a complete knowledge of axle wheel end assemblies including proper installation of hub and drum assemblies, bearings, seals, and races. Must have complete understanding and knowledge or proper torque procedures for axle nut installation.
- Troubleshoot and repair all aspects of electrical wiring systems, including all lights, 7-way receptacles, interior lighting, and switches.
- Be able to demonstrate the ability to perform minor body repairs and maintenance: R&R body side panels and posts, R&R nose rails, R&R swing and roll-door panels, R&R roof, and floor sections.
- Be able to demonstrate the ability to perform minor undercarriage maintenance and repairs. R&R crossmembers, ICC bumpers, spring hangers, dolly legs and bracing, etc.
- R&R and troubleshoot GPS tracking systems.
- Be able to demonstrate the ability to weld steel components from various positions.
- Documents all work performed in a clear and precise manner on all repair orders.
- Keeps his/her shop area clean, clutter free to promote a safe working environment.
- Operates all tools and equipment in a safe manner.
