STATUS: Exempt, Full-time, Regular
COMPENSATION: $66,560 Annually

LOCATION: Sacramento, CA (position not eligible for full-time remote work and will be required to travel throughout the Sacramento Region and occasionally throughout California)
JOB SUMMARY: The Training Institute Manager leads all outreach, education, and training efforts in our work to create a region where LGBTQ people thrive. This position will serve as an LGBTQIA+ subject matter expert focused on professional training and raising awareness of LGBTQIA+ equity and all forms of oppression. This includes organizing support for community and policy initiatives, increasing the visibility of Center programs and services, and providing LGBTQIA cultural humility training with an emphasis on healthcare, education, faith, public and nonprofit social service agencies, and anti-racist organizations. This position reports to the Deputy Chief Program Officer and works with other programming staff, stakeholders, industry professionals, and directly with adult and youth community members of diverse backgrounds.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Manage Training Institute operations including business planning, marketing, and exercising appropriate fiscal, legal, data capture, grant reporting, and contract oversight.
2. Design and implement internal and external LGBTQ+ cultural humility and other equity driven programs, training, and tools in alignment with the Center’s strategic plan and in collaboration with the Deputy Chief Program Officer for Advocacy and Program Leadership Team.
3. Serve as an effective advocate for LGBTQIA+ populations and ensure authentic community outreach and engagement that supports a culture of equity and inclusion across the organization.
Training Institute Operations:
1. In collaboration with the senior leadership team, develop a financially and programmatically sustainable 3-year business plan for the Training Institute to generate enough revenue to cover all program costs.
2. Develop a marketing plan for the Training Institute with the goal of securing both one-time and ongoing training contracts with employers including educational institutions, healthcare providers, doctors, and medical students, nonprofits and public agencies, businesses and professional associations/chambers of commerce, senior living facilities and service providers, law enforcement agencies, real estate, finance, and legal professionals amongst others.
3. Develop and document standard operating procedures for training client development, training curriculum scoping, contracting, invoicing, tracking outcomes, and soliciting feedback.
4. Collaborate with the Finance & Operations Division staff to process and manage training contracts, invoicing, and collection of fees.
5. Track and manage program expenses within approved budget parameters and spending authority.
6. Develop a comprehensive “Train the Trainer” Program and to support a network of content expert trainers within the Sacramento region.
7. Recruit, train, and effectively supervise the outreach and training interns and volunteers, ensuring good communication and collaboration with other departments, and support each team member’s professional development.
8. Collaborate with other departments to cultivate and meet with potential training clients.
9. Ensure comprehensive data collection from training participants, outreach contacts, and public presentations.
10. Draft progress reports on grant deliverables.
Education & Training:
1. Serve as an LGBTQIA+ cultural humility content expert internally and externally.
2. Develop a catalogue of LGBTQIA+ cultural humility and equity driven training presentations customized for the audience’s environment such as education, healthcare, public safety, faith communities, governing bodies, social services, hospitality, retail, or other employers and organizations.
3. Develop an organizational equality audit framework that can be offered as a stand-alone or add-on service that reviews policies, handbooks, new hire orientation processes, management training, and community commitment for businesses and non-profit organizations.
4. Coordinate specific education programs on subjects such as economic justice, transgender inclusion, LGBTQIA medical and mental health, DEIB in the workplace, etc.
5. Research, design, and prepare curriculum and collateral training materials in collaboration with DCPO on subjects including, but not limited to:
a. Gender and Sexuality 101
b. Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB)
c. Racial Equity
d. Employment Equity and LGBTQ+ Affirming Workplaces
e. Health Equity and LGBTQ+ Affirming Medical and Mental Health Care
f. Creating Affirming LGBTQ+ Education Environments
g. Creating Affirming Space for Trans & Nonbinary individuals for service providers that work in housing and homeless, domestic violence, crime victim services, youth and families, amongst others
h. Sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression (SOGIE) data collection practices[DH1]
6. Lead internal and external training sessions and educational workshops for groups ranging in size from 10-100+
7. Increase internal employee and volunteer critical consciousness in areas of racism, anti-Blackness, misogyny and misogynoir, White supremacy, xenophobia, ableism, fatphobia/anti-fat bias, and other forms of oppression that intersect with LGBTQIA+ identities through training and other internal activities.
8. Continuously evaluate and update training to maximize effectiveness.
Community Outreach & Engagement:
1. Serve as a representative of the organization in collaborative partner networks and at related community events and activities.
2. Evaluate the status of inclusionary policies and sexual health education practices in the region’s schools and work to ensure they are culturally responsive and LGBTQ+ affirming.
3. Collaborate with the Community Engagement & Volunteer Services Manager to conduct outreach and train volunteers to do outreach at community events throughout the Sacramento region.
4. Engage parents and families regarding the consequences of trauma caused by rejecting behaviors including development of a panel of speakers that can share their personal stories and provide tools to support affirming behaviors.
5. Engage with schools, faith-based leaders, and cultural groups to educate and create brave spaces for LGBTQ+ youth of color through development of educational workshops and trainings.
6. Occasionally provide testimony at public governing body hearings and provide comments to local media in response to current events as authorized/directed by the CEO.
GENERAL DUTIES:
1. Collaborate with program, development, and operations staff to maximize the reach of Center programs and advocacy efforts.
2. Participate in staff meetings, planning meetings, committee meetings, and other external collaborative meetings as needed.
3. Provide guidance and mentorship to less experienced internal staff and leaders at developing LGBTQ organizations across the country.
4. Maintain strict confidentiality and the highest level of integrity and professional boundaries in relationships with all program leadership team members, staff, clients, media, and donors.
5. Participate in a rotating Leader On-Call Program to support on-site staff in case of after-hours emergencies.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
1. Knowledge and expertise of the issues, needs, and interests of LGBTQIA2S+ youth, families, employees, patients, clients, and other consumers, including knowledge of the spectrum of gender and sexual identities and intersections of gender, race, sexuality, age, ability, and economic justice.

3. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; public speaking, facilitation

5. Coalition building capabilities to balance interests, negotiate, and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
6. The ability to describe the many phases of instructional design and an instructional systems design model and experience developing training curriculum, supplemental content, and collateral materials, materials.
7. Flexibility to customize and adjust training content to meet audience needs and expectations.
8. An understanding of the principles of rapid prototyping for training development, mechanisms for effectively obtaining feedback from participants, and making instructional corrections.
9. Experience developing online/digital training mechanisms including the use of interactive tools during the presentation and to obtain real-time and post-training feedback.
10. Understanding of grant project management including activity design, budget management, data collection, and reporting to ensure contract compliance and deliverables.
REQUIREMENTS:
1. Passion for the Center’s mission and work to create a region where all LGBTQ+ people can thrive and knowledge of LGBTQ+ issues including a robust understanding of anti-racist frameworks, intersectionality, systems of oppression, and civil rights policy.
2. Education: Bachelor’s degree; or five years of directly related work experience may be substituted for formal education.
3. Experience: Minimum of two years of experience in community organizing and advocacy, marketing or communications, gender or ethnic studies, higher education, social work, public health, or relevant field including program development and management experience.
4. Computer/Office Equipment Skills: Superior proficiency working with Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneDrive, and Teams, database systems, and social media tools. Must be comfortable developing, delivering and executing interactive training workshops including the use of video and audio training tools both in-person and in a remote environment.
5. Language Skills: Fluency in English is required. Bilingual individuals who are able to speak/read/write/translate in Spanish are encouraged to apply.
6. Transportation: Access to reliable automobile transportation with a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance is required. This position will require regular travel throughout the Sacramento region and may occasionally be required to drive rented vehicles and/and travel by air throughout California and the United States.
7. Work Schedule: This position will generally operate Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-6 p.m. However, significant flexibility outside that schedule is required to meet the needs of training clients and participate in regular evening and weekend outreach events and meetings.
8. Background Check: Offer of employment may be contingent on satisfactory results of a criminal history background check.
