We are seeking a skilled Training Specialist with Navy training experience to develop, implement, and manage training programs for personnel. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Navy training systems and instructional techniques, ensuring training programs are aligned with military standards and operational goals. This role involves working closely with leadership and subject matter experts to assess training needs, develop curriculum, and deliver effective training solutions.
Responsibilities
- Training Program Development:
- Design, develop, and implement Navy-specific training programs, including classroom instruction, hands-on training, and simulations.
- Create training materials such as lesson plans, presentations, manuals, and guides that meet Navy training standards.
- Ensure training content is aligned with military objectives, policies, and procedures, and incorporates best practices from Navy training protocols.
- Training Delivery & Facilitation:
- Conduct training sessions for Navy personnel, using various instructional methods to ensure effective learning and retention.
- Facilitate both individual and group training in areas such as technical skills, leadership development, and mission-critical procedures.
- Adapt training approaches to meet the diverse needs of learners, ensuring engagement and understanding.
- Training Needs Assessment:
- Collaborate with Navy leadership and department heads to assess the training needs of personnel, identifying skill gaps and areas for improvement.
- Conduct job task analysis to develop training solutions that align with operational and mission-specific requirements.
- Provide recommendations for new or revised training programs based on feedback and performance outcomes.
- Curriculum Development & Updates:
- Review and update existing training curriculum to ensure compliance with Navy policies and evolving mission needs.
- Incorporate feedback from trainees and leadership to continuously improve the effectiveness of training programs.
- Ensure all training materials are up-to-date and reflect the latest standards, technologies, and procedures in Navy operations.
- Training Evaluation & Reporting:
- Assess the effectiveness of training programs by evaluating trainee performance, conducting post-training evaluations, and gathering feedback.
- Use evaluation results to refine and improve training methods, content, and delivery.
- Prepare reports on training outcomes, attendance, and progress for leadership review.
- Technology Integration:
- Utilize Navy-approved learning management systems (LMS) and training technologies to deliver and track training sessions.
- Incorporate multimedia, simulations, and virtual learning tools to enhance the learning experience.
- Stay updated on emerging training technologies and recommend their integration into Navy training programs.
- Compliance & Standards:
- Ensure all training programs meet Navy and Department of Defense (DoD) standards, including NAVEDTRA guidelines and other relevant regulations.
- Maintain detailed records of training sessions, attendance, and performance metrics in accordance with Navy documentation standards.
- Support audits and inspections related to training compliance.
- Collaboration & Support:
- Work closely with subject matter experts, technical specialists, and military leadership to develop relevant and accurate training content.
- Support command initiatives and objectives by aligning training programs with operational needs.
- Serve as a resource for Navy personnel, providing guidance on training-related matters.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Training & Development, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in training development and delivery, with specific experience in Navy or military training.
- Knowledge of Navy training standards, including NAVEDTRA guidelines, and experience using Navy training management systems.
- Strong presentation, facilitation, and instructional skills, with the ability to engage and motivate trainees.
- Experience developing curriculum, lesson plans, and training materials.
- Familiarity with training technologies, simulations, and multimedia content creation.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills, with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with diverse teams.
