Job Summary: Under limited supervision, uses intermediate skills obtained through experience and training facilitate ongoing training/professional development opportunities for adults by creating a safe learning environment designed to engage adult students to reach their professional goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Organize and obtain course materials such as handouts and visual materials
- Facilitate training using specified curricula at locations identified by agency management
- Present information using best practice strategies in adult learning to implement training
- Assist in the development of alternative training classes, if expected outcomes are not seen
- Use knowledge to inform equipping training materials and activities relevant to training
- Monitor, evaluate and record training activities and program effectiveness
- Maintain accurate and complete data records and prepare reporting, as needed
- Participate fully in continued professional development opportunities throughout employment with other network agencies and staff
- Set up classroom with technology and manipulatives as required
- May assess training needs of each participant through the use of entrance interviews, assessment testing and collaboration with program case managers
- May create targeted lesson plans for each individual or groups of individuals designed to help the participant(s) obtain entry-level employment skills
- May use a variety of instructional techniques and formats such as role playing, simulations, team exercises, group discussions, videos and lectures
- May assist in organizing program events both in the classroom and in the community to support program objectives
- May conduct community outreach activities and awareness campaigns to increase recognition and participation in services offered
- May observe and provide feedback regarding training specialist and instructors’ lesson delivery
- May conduct classroom observations and skill development for other training specialists and instructors
- May represent ACCESS to external partners on boards, community groups and coalitions
- May support reporting efforts for ACCESS, funders, and other community stakeholders
- May work with supervisor to determine volunteer placement and maintenance
- May teach various program classes as needed
- Maintain currency in training and development techniques
- Operate standard office equipment and use required software applications
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Knowledge of:
- Principles, methods, and techniques of adult learning

- Teaching methods and principles

- Applicable computer and software use
Skill in:
- Operating standard office equipment and using required software applications for program area and other applications, including Microsoft Office
Ability to:
- Organize and present information and material in an interesting and challenging manner
- Organize and maintain records and appropriate documentation
- Organize courses with diverse activities and methods that cover all aspects of English language (speaking, writing, and comprehension)
- Evaluate individual and/or group instructional needs
- Communicate sufficiently to teach adults
- Maintain proficiency in subject matter taught
- Partner with other functional areas to accomplish objectives
- Incite enthusiasm and influence, motivate and persuade others to achieve desired outcomes
- Work flexible hours (i.e., evening and weekend hours as required)
Educational/Previous Experience Requirements:
- Minimum Degree Required:
- For Workforce Development: Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Computer Science, or other related degree program
- For Youth & Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Early Childhood Development, or other related degree program

- At least two years of hands-on experience planning and implementing lesson plans and teaching/tutoring adults or any equivalent combination of experience, education, and/or training approved by Human Resources
