JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES
Performs all laboratory testing specific to the assigned section.
- Remains knowledgeable and competent for all policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Ensures and verifies quality control data is appropriate for the complexity of the reported tests.
- Maintains competency in all test methods.
- Completes all new staff onboarding, oversees training, and ensures initial, 6 month and annual competency are completed
- Ensure all Proficiency testing is received, completed, and submitted
- Ensures workflow and Turnaround times are monitored and followed
- Maintains knowledge of all regulatory standards related to Transfusion Medicine
- Maintains competency in computer functions in assigned areas.
- Completes, verifies and reports testing in timely manner.
- Complies with safety guidelines and procedures and adheres to regulatory mandates.
- Remains responsible and accountable for all actions.
Enhances productivity and laboratory lab functions by demonstrating dependability.
- Adjusts, prioritizes, and organizes work to achieve maximum productivity to meet the workload demands of the section.
- Stewards Transfusion Medicine resources and practices Lean Methodology
- Manages staff schedules, timecards, and productivity
- Serves as a Transfusion Medicine expert resource for all testing protocols
- Assists peers and supervisors with tasks after completion of assigned work.
- Adheres to attendance policy, begins work as scheduled.
- Works independently, utilizes resources available to maximize efficiency.
Assists in the development of laboratory personnel and tests, to enhance laboratory functions.
- Actively participates in training students, employees and fellows.
- Participates in process improvement projects.
- Assist Transfusion leadership with new equipment/test validation as assigned
- Validates database for new software or new tests implemented in the laboratory.
- Coaches and mentors' students and employees.
- Respond to all staff concerns and questions.
- Promotes cohesiveness among the team, including psychological safety, and well-being.
- Develop and support staff to transition career advancement inside the department.
- Collaborate with intra and inter leadership and work in partnership with all members follow the institution core values.
Customer Service
- Manages all customer service interactions with professionalism, diplomacy, actively facilitating resolutions to problems and addressing the needs of clients both internal and external.
Computer Skills
- Maintains proficiency on computer functions in the lab processes.
- Properly acquires specimen data into computer system(s).
- Analyzes and evaluates patient results correctly and appropriately.
- Stores patient information and results to allow easy future access as required.

EDUCATION - Bachelor's Degree Related science field or Molecular Genetic Technology. Required or Successful completion of a National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Science (NAACLS) accredited Clinical Laboratory Science/Molecular Genetic Technology accredited program. Required Master's Degree Related science field. Preferred Doctorate Related science field. Preferred WORK EXPERIENCE - 8 years Clinical laboratory compliance and operations experience to include 3 years of blood banking and 3 years of lead or supervisory experience, with Bachelor's Degree. Required or 6 years Clinical laboratory compliance and operations experience to include 3 years of blood banking and 3 years of lead or supervisory experience, with Master's Degree. Required or 4 years Clinical laboratory compliance and operations experience to include three years of blood banking and 3 years of lead or supervisory experience, with Doctorate degree. Required Successful completion of the LEADing Self Accelerate and/or LEADing Self Discover programs may substitute for one year of required supervisory or management experience. Completion of both programs can be substituted for a maximum of two years of supervisory or management experience.
