The Transit Analyst position delivers crucial analytical and operational support to the Transit Service Delivery and Planning (TSDP) department, with a focus on cost, strategic alignment, and budget development to ensure fiscal sustainability of departmental operations. The role streamlines processes, manages budgets, ensures compliance, conducts financial analysis, service demand forecasting, and provides comprehensive reports to support the department’s overall objectives. This includes analyzing and reporting on fixed route services, water taxis, Dial-A-Lift (DAL) operations, Request for Proposals (RFPs), Standard Operating Procedures, Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s), operating and capital grants, and forecasting future revenues and expenditures.
Responsibilities
- Develop reports and presentations on transportation performance to illustrate operational trends and interpret transportation data for decision-making.
- Conduct comprehensive research and analysis to recommend strategies and improvements based on data insights.
- Perform detailed statistical analysis and data quality checks to ensure accuracy and reliability.
- Compile, analyze, summarize, and interpret field data, such as operator and transit supervisor absenteeism, overtime, incidents, and other transit-related issues.
- Develop and manage the department’s budget, including in-depth financial analysis and forecasting.
- Verify and reconcile invoices, ensuring accuracy and financial accountability.
- Assist in developing operating and capital plans, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities.
- Monitor and evaluate the efficiency of service delivery methods and procedures, recommending improvements as needed.
- Document and streamline processes to enhance operational efficiency and accuracy.
- Present financial reports, KPIs, service quality metrics, and key insights to management and stakeholders.
- Collaborate with other departments on budget transactions, trend analysis, and financial forecasting.
- Participate in decision-making processes to align resources with strategic priorities.
- Attend professional meetings to stay updated on trends in transit operations and planning.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and /or EXPERIENCE:
A bachelor’s degree in transportation, planning, public administration, project management, computer science, data science, finance, statistics, business administration, or related field is required. Five years of progressively responsible work experience in a related field is preferred.
ATTRIBUTES AND SKILL SETS:
- Strong analytical skills with experience in BI software, Oracle databases, spreadsheets, and statistical programs.
- Technical proficiency with intermediate skills in MS Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook) and experience with graphics, database, and internet applications.
- Preferred proficiency in SQL and Python for data analysis and automation.
- Experience in financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and cost management.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, capable of managing multiple activities concurrently.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills for developing and presenting reports and technical documents.
- Effective collaboration skills with strong interpersonal tact and diplomacy.
- Project management experience, with the ability to oversee projects, meet deadlines, and manage budgets.
- High attention to detail, ensuring data integrity and accuracy.
- Process-oriented with skills in documenting and streamlining processes for efficiency.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to align operational and financial activities with broader goals.
- Adaptable and flexible, with the ability to handle varying tasks and stay current with trends in transit operations and planning.

Salary Structure:
Hiring range: $69,235- $93,467 per year (DOQ), with excellent fringe benefits. Submit resume, APPLY ONLINE, (DMV record printout within 30 Days UPON REQUEST).
Compensation packages are determined based on a variety of factors specific to each candidate, including geographic location, skillset, the mix of relevant education, certifications, experience level, and performance.
