Job Opportunity: Transmission Line Design Engineer (Contract to Hire)
Selectek has a contract-to-hire opportunity for a Transmission Line Design Engineer with a national Engineering Firm. In this role, you will provide transmission line design, engineering, technical support, and oversight to a transmission engineering and design team. Your contributions will ensure the delivery of safe, cost-effective, and high-quality engineering and design services.
Location:
This position can be based in the following areas: Charlotte, NC; Tampa, FL; Pittsburgh, PA; Birmingham, AL; or West Palm Beach, FL.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide engineering and technical expertise for identifying, analyzing, and resolving issues.
- Plan, organize, estimate, schedule, and monitor work activities effectively.
- Produce thorough, timely, and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations, and sketches.
- Continuously improve job-related engineering, technical, and professional knowledge, skills, and performance.
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Understand and create transmission line drawing packages.
- Support company goals and represent the company positively and professionally.
- Interact with internal engineers and technical personnel on a daily basis.
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with customers.
- Monitor deliverables and schedules, and present solutions to clients.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Civil/Structural or Electrical Engineering (Civil preferred)
- 2+ years of experience in electrical utility transmission line design, with working knowledge of high voltage transmission line design at 69V and higher.
- Technical competency in all aspects of transmission line utility design, including general arrangement and layout of structures, understanding of line components, foundation design, grounding, lightning and shielding protection, sag and tension limits, etc.
- Expertise in PLSCADD line design highly preferred; other software experience will be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
