Summary:
The Transportation Planner is responsible for managing and contacting bulk customers to validate the accuracy of the order on file at the TMS level prior to carrier tender. This includes verifying the S/T location, contact information, bulk product, quantity to be delivered, meter or scale unload, and other order validation steps. The role also involves managing inbound, interplant, and direct-to-customer shipments, monitoring cost, service, and compliance for carriers, and assisting the Transportation Manager with special projects, analysis, and metric reporting.
Accountabilities:
- Document all customer contacts according to the call script guidelines.
- Manage and perform all data updates in TMS followed with email updates to customer service.
- Work independently with or without direct supervision.
- Maintain order integrity by verifying all order information.
- Must be comfortable and courteous on the telephone.
- Work closely with the bulk control tower team and take directions.
- Analyze data to identify areas for cost and service improvement opportunities.
- Masterful customer service skills supporting multiple customer accounts.
- Proactively analyze and implement best practices and process improvement opportunities.
- Utilize transportation software systems to identify least cost routing and shipment consolidation to minimize cost.
- Coordinate daily activity to track and monitor delivery status and movement of goods to customers, both external and internal.
- Communicate with sites to optimize customer service and freight spend.
- Work with the shipping department to establish, maintain, and facilitate dock adjustments.
- Route special customer orders as needed, including white glove and hot loads.
- Act as a first point of contact for brokers and carriers.
- Work with DRP planners, sites, and carriers to ensure internal transfers are shipping timely.
- Assist carriers with pickup and delivery appointments, identify root causes, and resolve issues preventing carriers from completing tasks on their own.
- Coordinate inbound loads with planners and manufacturing.
- Provide daily reporting to the Senior Planner of issues related to sites and carriers.
- Attend meetings as needed with sites, carriers, and cross-functionally.
- Perform other duties as required.

- Proficient in MS Office, Word processing software, Spreadsheet software, and Internet software.
Compensation:
The pay rate range above is the base hourly pay range that Aditi Consulting reasonably expects to pay someone for this position (compensation may vary outside of this range depending on several factors, including but not limited to, a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, experience, location and end client requirements).
