Graves Foods is a 75-year-old wholesale foodservice distribution company located throughout the Midwest. Graves delivers quality foodservice products to nursing homes, schools, restaurants, and other foodservice providers throughout the Midwest. We are looking for warehouse workers for our Jefferson City location. This is a wonderful opportunity to be a part of a fast-growing company.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Transportation Clerk/Driver Check-in is responsible for coordinating driver check-ins, processing delivery paperwork, and ensuring all records related to incoming and outgoing shipments are accurate. This role plays a critical part in maintaining smooth transportation operations, ensuring timely communication with drivers, and resolving any delivery discrepancies. Attention to detail, organizational skills, and experience with transportation software are essential to this position.
PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Driver Check-in: Manage the driver check-in process, confirming that all documentation is accurate and complete before processing.
- Verify Delivery Information: Check Bills of Lading (BOLs), manifests, and other relevant documents to ensure deliveries match the scheduled routes and orders.
- Documentation Processing: Record and file all delivery paperwork, maintaining organized records for compliance and audit purposes.
- Communication with Drivers: Coordinate with drivers regarding delivery routes, schedules, and any changes in delivery status.
- Resolve Delivery Discrepancies: Investigate and resolve any discrepancies in deliveries, working closely with drivers and warehouse teams.
- Data Entry: Accurately enter delivery data into the transportation management system (TMS) and update records as needed.
- Monitor Transportation Activity: Track and monitor the status of inbound and outbound shipments to ensure timely deliveries.
- Assist in Scheduling: Help organize driver schedules and delivery routes, ensuring efficient and timely deliveries.
- Maintain Accurate Inventory Records: Ensure all shipped and received products are accurately tracked in the system, coordinating with warehouse staff.
- Handle Customer Returns: Process returns by verifying paperwork, ensuring accurate record-keeping for returned goods.
- Adherence to Safety Procedures: Ensure compliance with all safety regulations during check-ins and transportation operations.
- Attendance: Regular and reliable attendance is crucial in supporting the day-to-day transportation operations.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Proficient in MS Word and Excel:
Able to create documents in Word and use Excel for data entry, reporting, and analysis.
- Clear Communication Skills:Capable of professional, clear communication with drivers, vendors, and internal teams. This position requires strong organizational skills, the ability to multitask, and effective communication in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to Detail:
Thorough in checking documentation and resolving any discrepancies efficiently.
- Experience with Transportation Management Systems (TMS):
Proficient in using TMS to manage and track shipments and deliveries.
- Problem-Solving Skills:
Able to quickly assess and resolve issues related to driver check-ins and delivery discrepancies.
- Organizational and Planning Skills:
Effective in prioritizing tasks and managing schedules to ensure smooth transportation operations.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- 2-3 years of experience in transportation, logistics, or a related field.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- Previous commercial driving experience and DOT compliance knowledge are a plus
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
This position will be primarily in an office setting, but may require some time in the warehouse for driver check-ins. The role involves frequent sitting, standing, and walking. Occasional lifting of items up to 20 lbs. may be required.
