Position Summary: We are seeking a seasoned Transportation Engineer with over 10 years of experience to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working with the Alaska Department of Transportation (DOT), demonstrating a deep understanding of Alaskan transportation infrastructure, regulations, and standards. This role involves planning, designing, and overseeing transportation projects to ensure they meet all safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the planning, design, and implementation of transportation projects, including highways, roads, bridges, and related infrastructure.
- Develop project plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
- Conduct traffic studies, analyze data, and develop recommendations to improve traffic flow and safety.
- Coordinate with Alaska DOT, local governments, and other stakeholders to ensure project compliance and alignment with regulatory standards.
- Oversee project teams, including engineers, technicians, and support staff, to ensure successful project delivery.
- Prepare and submit reports, designs, and other documentation to regulatory agencies.
- Conduct site inspections to monitor project progress, quality, and compliance with plans and specifications.
- Manage project budgets, schedules, and resources effectively.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and team members.
- Participate in public meetings and presentations to communicate project details and progress to stakeholders.
- Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes affecting transportation engineering.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Alaska.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in transportation engineering, with a focus on Alaska DOT projects.
- Proven track record of managing and delivering transportation projects on time and within budget.
- In-depth knowledge of Alaska DOT standards, regulations, and procedures.
- Proficiency in transportation engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work in both office and field environments.
- Ability to travel to project sites across Alaska as needed.
