The City of San Luis Obispo currently has a Transportation Planner Engineer I, II, or III opening within the Transportation Planning and Engineering Division of the Public Works Department.

The City of San Luis Obispo is currently offering a lump-sum incentive for some positions which may be valued up to $5,000. Additionally, the City is honoring service credit towards vacation accrual for completed public sector years of service.
For those candidates who live 50 or more miles from San Luis Obispo County, relocation assistance up to $5,000 may be available.Ideal Candidate Summary:
The ideal candidate for this position is someone who has well rounded background in both transportation planning and engineering from either education or professional experience. The ideal candidate has basic core technical knowledge of transportation policy, planning, design, and operations, and strong project management skills. Having to navigate challenging political conditions, the ideal candidate would have excellent communication skills and tact. With the City’s focus on multimodal mobility, particularly priorities for bicycles and pedestrians, the ideal candidate would also share the same professional interests in promoting a safe, multimodal transportation system.
