About the Job
The Transportation Supervisor is based in our Distribution Center and will assist the Director of Supply Chain Operations to support key transportation and supply chain initiatives aimed to improve process efficiencies, deliver significant cost savings, and make decisions that maximize transportation performance and cost metrics. It is the responsibility of this position to build a positive work environment including customer service, carrier performance, routing, billing, and overseeing the work of the third-party carriers delivering freight throughout the store network. The Transportation Supervisor directly supervises three (3) to five (5) coordinators, clerks, and analyst, while having direct responsibility for a multimillion dollar annual spend.
Responsibilities:
- Supervises and assigns responsibilities for transportation and shipping personnel.
- Responsible for carrier selection and routing process on domestic less than truck loads, full truck loads, intermodal freight for inbound/outbound shipments and small parcel carriers
- Responsible for carrier tariffs and pricing agreements, auditing of transportation freight bills, and carrier claims and settlements
- Partners with the Director on the carrier selection to ensure that it aligns with corporate strategy.
- Coordinates the extra load planning with the DC partners to ensure maximum trailer efficiency to ensure internal and external customers receive the highest level of service.
- Responsible for route planning associated with new store openings/closings; route consolidation; peak planning.
- Maintain and manage carrier rate files
- Audit and input carrier freight invoices into appropriate spreadsheet
- Participates and assists in the development and maintenance of corporate transportation and Logistics management standard operating procedures (SOP).
- Communicates pertinent transportation information to all transportation and logistics team members as applicable, and cross trains as necessary.

- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Minimum of 5 years in Transportation Operations.
- High school education required. College Degree preferred.
- Expert level Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to remain composed during multi- tasking.
- Knowledge of FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) rules and regulations
