POSITION SUMMARY:
The Transportation Analyst - System Support role within the Distribution Center (“DC”) at Ocean State Job Lot (“OSJL” and “Company”) is responsible for the effective utilization of drivers, equipment, and tools to maximize service and productivity while remaining compliant with state and federal regulations and Company policies. This role manages a team of Yard Drivers and PT Data Integrity Analysts, and oversees the day-to-day operations involved with transportation planning and routing. In addition, this role provides coaching to drivers to improve service, safety and productivity in support of company objectives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage and maintain the following software and hardware (not required to repair hardware):
- Trimble Mobility (PeopleNet), On Board Computer (“OBC”), Trimble Onboard DVR & Camera System, as well as Orbcomm trailer tracking.
- Act as the subject matter expert for all driver facing systems. Assist Lead Driver Trainers with driver onboarding, implementation and training for all driver facing systems. Analyze driver performance and compliance, provide feedback and coaching to drivers as needed as to how to improve performance, and provide clean data for performance reporting.
- Assist in management of the Manhattan Active Transportation Management System (“TMS”) application and understand the routing process.
- Manage & maintain Drivers Alert How’s My Driving decal program. Monitor reports, identify drivers noted in the reports, and determine appropriate steps to address issues raised in reports.
- Create purchase requisitions in the Oracle financial system and assist with department expense tracking and budgeting.
- Track fuel purchases and miles traveled to file International Fuel Tax Association reports and Highway Use Tax reporting. Complete and file all returns utilizing Trimble Vusion application.
- Manage registrations of all Transportation Department assets.
- Develop and distribute analytics and reports measuring key metrics on delivery performance and achievement of Company objectives to drive results and support management through the performance development and review processes.
- Develop and track continuous improvement targets for the Transportation Department. Document and maintain Transportation Department processes and information flow, touch points with other areas of the organization and data sources for reporting.
- Responsible for influencing positive associate morale and quality customer service; address driver problems as they arise and report issues to management and Human Resources as needed. Maintain positive relations with drivers, stores, internal corporate stakeholders, and third party partners.
- Independently identify opportunities to improve processes and reduce costs and recommend creative solutions.
- Ensure compliance with Company policies and state and federal regulations. Maintain appropriate and accurate documentation of the same, including, but not limited to, driver compliance for random drug screening, certification of violations/Motor Vehicle Record, and annual medical reviews.
- As a member of the management safety committee, work with safety management and drivers to implement and administer Company safety and accident reporting policies and procedures to measure and reduce the occurrence and cost of collisions, injuries, near-misses, and equipment damage.
- Manage associate performance, write performance reviews, and provide coaching and feedback. As needed, delegate work and follow up with team members to confirm timely completion of tasks.
- Assist with hiring, coaching, and disciplinary actions for team members as well as train new team members and act as a mentor to develop new teammates.
- Ability to perform all duties with self-direction, independent judgment and minimal supervision. Complete any other duties that may be assigned by your manager.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Prior experience in dispatch and transportation operations is preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent is required; a college degree is preferred.
- 2 or more years of supervisory experience is preferred.
- Experience with an OBC is preferred.
- Strong computer skills (Google Suite, MS Office) and telephone skills.
- Excellent organizational skills, able to manage and prioritize multiple projects at once and meet given deadlines.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build and maintain a culture of trust and respect.
- Must be able to manage processes efficiently, including but not limited to effective follow-up, time management, and attention to detail.
- Willingness to learn new things and take on new responsibility.
- Proficiency in English is required; bilingual in Spanish is helpful.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Works primarily in a climate-controlled environment within the Distribution Center with minimal safety and health hazard potential.
- Works in an office environment remaining stationary at a desk, table, or computer workstation for extended periods of time. Frequently uses near vision for reading and computer tasks.
- On call to remotely cover the 24-hour dispatch line on average every fifth (5th) week. Some weekend work may be required during seasonal times depending on the needs of the business.

The salary range for this position is between $60,000 - $70,000 per year. Salary commensurates with experience.
