The Trauma Data Analyst is responsible for identifying trauma patients meeting registry inclusion criteria and abstracting clinical and outcomes data from the medical record. This role codes diagnoses, procedures, and injuries utilizing ICD-10 coding and AIS coding, and this role also enters data into designated databases per applicable regulations. |
Responsibilities:
Analyzes and abstracts detailed clinical and administrative data from the medical record to meet hospital, accreditation, and regulatory agency requirements. Abstracts and verifies clinical data from pre-hospital EMS database and the in-patient medical record including demographics, co-morbidities, diagnoses, injuries, ED data, operations, procedures, and other appropriate coding schemes, and accurately enters into Trauma Database within departmental guidelines. Confirms completeness and accuracy of data collected/documented by physicians, hospital staff or physician office personnel to verify that data is up to organizational and regulatory standards. Understands benchmarking reports and meets with quality data owners/customers within the department, hospital system, providers to share data findings and other opportunities for improvement. Identifies patients meeting Trauma Registry inclusion criteria per NC Trauma Registry Data Dictionary, NTDB and ACS standards for inclusion into the Trauma Registry. Works with CHL team to make improvements in EMR to ensure better documentation and abstraction. Performs other duties as assigned. |
EDUCATION: |
Required: High School Diploma or equivalent |
EXPERIENCE: |
Required: 1 year |
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING: |
Preferred: AAAM AIS Course Certificate, ICD-10 Course Certificate, Trauma Registry Course or completed within 2 years of hire date. |
