Trauma Registrar (Castro Valley, CA 94546 – Onsite)
Contract Role
Summary:
- Manages the trauma registry database for the Trauma Services department by collecting, compiling, and presenting data on traumatic injuries.
- This role ensures accuracy, timeliness, and accessibility of information for research, performance improvement, and administration.
- It may involve preparing educational materials for patients and participating in community outreach.
Job Accountabilities:
- Trauma Registry:
- Identify trauma patients and abstract medical records.
- Code diagnoses according to trauma scoring systems.
- Submit trauma data to county/state agencies and maintain registry quality assurance.
- Produce reports for research and quality improvement.
- Department Support:
- Participate as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Maintain department files, systems, and reference materials.
- Conduct research for patient education and professional materials.
- Handle office supplies and maintain service manuals.
- Customer Service:
- Perform duties to enhance patient/family experiences.
- Complete multiple projects within set time frames.
- Provide courteous, respectful communication and promptly address inquiries.
Qualifications:
- Education: HS Diploma or equivalent experience accepted.
- Experience: 1 year of relevant experience.
Skills & Knowledge:
- Proficient in ICD-9 coding, data abstraction, and medical terminology.
- Ability to review and abstract medical records.
- Basic math and analytical skills.
- Knowledge of confidentiality regulations and medical information release protocols.
- Strong verbal/written communication skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, Word).
