Medical Laboratory Technician (Traveler) Job Description
Overview:
We are looking for a knowledgeable and adaptable Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) to join our team as a traveler, performing a variety of diagnostic tests across multiple healthcare facilities. As a traveling MLT, you will analyze samples, operate lab equipment, and contribute to patient diagnosis and treatment. This role requires a high level of technical skill, attention to detail, and the ability to adjust to different lab settings.
Key Responsibilities:
Specimen Collection and Preparation: Collect, label, and prepare blood, urine, and other body fluid samples for analysis.
Laboratory Testing: Perform diagnostic tests and procedures, including hematology, microbiology, immunology, and chemistry tests, to support diagnosis and treatment.
Equipment Operation: Calibrate, operate, and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring accurate and reliable test results.
Quality Control: Implement quality control measures by following protocols and monitoring test validity to maintain high laboratory standards.
Documentation: Record, analyze, and report test results accurately in the laboratory information system (LIS) and electronic health records (EHR).
Adaptability: Work efficiently in different laboratory environments, adhering to each facility's policies and maintaining patient confidentiality and safety.
Skills & Qualifications:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
Knowledge of lab safety protocols, quality control, and regulatory standards.
Proficiency in operating lab equipment and utilizing laboratory information systems (LIS).
Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with healthcare team members across diverse settings.
Education & Experience:
Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or a related field.
Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) by ASCP or a similar accrediting body.
Minimum of 1-2 years of clinical laboratory experience preferred.
Willingness to travel and work flexible hours across different healthcare facilities.
