About The Position
Weekly Pay Range - $2423 To $2692 **Job Title:** Registered Nurse (RN) - Intensive Care Unit **Job Specialty:** ICU (Intensive Care Unit) - ICU **Job Duration:** 16 weeks **Shift:** 12-Hour Nights, Every Other Weekend, First to Float **Guaranteed Hours:** 36 hours per week **Experience:** Minimum 2 years **License:** Required to Submit **Certifications:** ACLS, BLS, NIHSS **Must-Have:** Dysrhythmia Exam (Basic) completion prior to acceptance **Job Description:** - Provide care in an 11-bed ICU unit with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:1-2. - Work with common diagnoses such as ARDS, Sepsis, Chronic ventilator, ETOH withdrawal, DKA, CRRT, therapeutic hypothermia, and IABP. - Perform line placements and intubations frequently. - Experience with CRRT (Next Stage) is preferred. - Cardiac skill preferred but not required; staff will work within their scope of practice. - RNs are required to titrate drips, including vasoactive medications, sedation medications, Heparin, and Insulin. - Charge Nurse or Nurse Shift Manager generally does not take patients; there are four Nurse Shift Managers on staff. - Utilize primary nursing with Safety Attendants serving as sitters. - Work alongside hospitalists and intensivists who are in-house 24/7. - Use vents (Drager, Hamilton), CPAP, and BIPAP for respiratory therapy; RT in-house 24/7. - Daytime Tele/Monitor Techs are present; nurses must read and interpret EKG strips. Phillips monitors are used. - 12-hour shifts with bedside reporting; self-scheduling is available but not finalized until management balances it. - Travelers are the first to float and may float to CSICU and all critical care-like units within five facilities. - Wear navy scrub color; undershirts must be navy, white, or black, and scrub jackets are optional but must be navy. - Hospital may cancel up to three times per contract. - Use the Cerner charting system. - Unit-specific orientation includes two shifts in Medical ICU and one shift each in Trauma, Neuro, and Surgical ICUs. - Pharmacy is in-house 24/7, with ICU Pharmacy open during day shifts. - Rotation required for two out of three major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's); time off may be considered but is not guaranteed. - Modules to be completed by start, taking approximately 3-4 hours, time for completion is not billable.
