# of births per day, per year 275-300 deliveries/month, >3000/year
Ratios 1:4 couplet care, 1:5 if not babies
Required Certifications BLS, ACLS, NRP
Common diagnoses/Types of patients Post-partum, mother and baby couplets, Gyn
Experience or 'Must have' skills knowledge of Mother Baby care, Postpartum experience or Labor and Delivery experience
Are RNs required to titrate drips? no
Common titratable &/or set rate drips set rate drips
Charge Nurse/House Supervisor Yes
Are there nurse aids/surgical techs on this unit? CNA, unit secretary, hearing screener, BC clerk, lactation
OB/Neonatologist in house 24/7? OB hospitalist
RT Equipment (vents, Cpap, BiPap, etc) N/A
Is there tele on this unit? Monitor Techs? RNs read strips? N/A
Shifts & Scheduling 8 Hr shifts: 8am-5pm
1 Hr break
Weekend Requirement take calls from staff when needed
Holiday Requirement NO
Is there a call or standby requirement? Managers do take occasional calls from staff on weekends
Floating Requirements No floating outside post-partum
Scrub Color/Dress code Navy blue
