Certification Details
- RTO after booking is not allowed and is not allowed to be worked out onsite. Any call offs or additional RTO on unit could possibly turn into a cancel and DNR.
- Ratios: 1:6 for floor for surgical/medicine inpatient patients.
- Shift: 12 HR NIGHTS; 36 or 48 hours accepted. If 48, then no OT billed until after 48 hours.
- Unit will accept contracts from 13 weeks+ up to March 15, 2025 (hard stop) to get the unit through the holidays!!
- RTO: 7 days MAX
- Float Requirement: when needed to like units
- Weekend Requirement: every other weekend
- Contract staff will be assigned and expected to work a Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team. Contract staff may be required to report to work during a catastrophic event, mass casualty or disaster.
- Consolidation to the Centralized Office mid contract may occur and the contract staff may be preassigned to units as needed
- PATIENT DIAGNOSES: Wide range of patient diagnoses that have had or plan to have surgery or involved in a trauma: Cellulitis, Appendicitis, Cholecystitis, Diverticulitis, Motor Vehicle Accidents, Gun Shots, Stabbings, Falls, Various Cancers, Kidney Stones, Bowel Obstruction, Peripheral Vascular Disease, Limb Ischemia, Hernia, Gangrene
- SPECIAL PROCEDURES/UNIT DETAILS: Wide range of any inpatient surgical procedure, as well as trauma: Cholecystectomy, Appendectomy, Hernia Repair, TURP, Ostomy Creation or Closure, Wound Debridement, Tumor Removal, Kidney Stone Removal, Amputations, Fem Pop Bypass
- SPECIAL EQUIPMENT: Wound Vacs, Chest Tubes, NG tube/Corpak, JP Drains, Hemovac Drains, Penrose Drains
- UNIT SYSTEMS (Medication, Documentation, Communication): Pyxis, EPIC, SBAR
Job Details
- Minimum Years of Experience: Must have 2 years of surgical unit experience
- Traveler Experience: Travel experience is preferred by not required
- Locals Accepted/Rate Difference: Yes
- Required Skills: Interpretation of dysrhythmias, Management of dysrhythmias, use of Rapid Response Teams, Blood Product Administration, Central line care/management, Peripheral Line Care/Management, Surgical drains, Nasal Cannula, Non-invasive airway management, Isolation Precautions, Wound Care/Wound Vac
- Preferred Skills: titrate cardiac drips, titrate vasoactive drips, Chest tubes-Emerson/Pleur-evac

Schedule Information
- Combination acuity unit: Adult medical surgical and surgical stepdown.
- MUST Pass EKG Testing prior to start for this specialty.
