UnitThomas Memorial Hospital - CVU # of beds12Ratios1 nurse to 4 to 6 patients Required CertificationsBLS, ACLS Common diagnoses/Types of patientsOverflow observation bed patients from the ED or post op cardiac catheterization patients.Experience or 'Must have' skillsBi-Pap, C-Pap, telemetry, critical drips, Post Cardiac Cath experience preferred, two to three years intermediate experience preferred.Are RNs required to titrate dripsYes Common titratable &/or set rate dripsCardizem, Heparin, Amiodarone, Lose dose Dopamine Charge Nurse/House SupervisorHouse Supervisor 24/7; A RN will be assigned to charge duties. This could possibly be a traveler.Are there nurse aids on this unit/RatiosYes, one PCT (C.N.A) for 12 patients; however, the nurses assist with general care and unit clerk duties when indicatedRT Equipment (vents, Cpap, BiPap, etc)C-Pap, Bi-Pap, High flow O2Is there tele on this unit Monitor techs RNs read stripsBedside telemetry and central telemetry. RNs are required to read strips.Shifts & Scheduling7A to 7P or 7P to 7A Weekend RequirementThe unit will be open Sunday through Saturday and holidays. Holiday RequirementRotational Is there a call or standby requirementNo Floating RequirementFloating will be required to Med-Surg units as neededScrub Color/Dress codeRN/LPN - Navy; Techs - Dark Grey/Pewter, scrubs must be solid color, no embroidery and/or patterns on scrubs. WVU Medicine or solid color fleece zip-ups may be worn in grey, black, navy or royal blue. Solid undershirts may be worn in white, grey, or black in matching color to the scrub top. Closed toed shoes only. No specific orientationFirst day general hospital orientation; Full day of Nursing Orientation for RNs/LPNs; Computer training (1/2 day for C.N.As, full day for nurses); Two, 12 hour orientation shifts with a preceptor; Will receive an abbreviated Initial Skills Checklist due 90 days from start date. Cancellation Policy:2 shifts per 13 week assignment/extension. 1 shift for less than 13 weeks.
