Certification Details
- Minimum 2 years of experience - must be recent, within the past 6 months
- Travelers will need to pass a dysrhythmia exam within 48 hours of receiving offer, through RELIAS, only (with 2 MAX attempts)
- There is also a PASS/FAIL SIM LAB on day one of orientation (study guides will be provided with first day instructions)
- MUST HAVE a strong cardiac tele background, preferably 2 years
- Must be able to decrease cardiac drips per physicians’ orders and parameters
- Nurses will be caring for more tele patients VS medical
- Nurses must be able to read & interpret strips
Job Requirements
- 12 hr shifts (7a - 7p or 7p - 7a)
- Ability to self-schedule; however this could change from time to time
- 4 weekend shifts in a 4 week schedule
- Rotate in with the perm staff
- No call required
Schedule Information
- CRMC 60 ED Beds, MGMC 31 ED Beds
- Ratios: 1 to 4
- Common diagnoses/Types of patients: ED holds waiting for placement on a unit, primarily MS/Tele
- Are RNs required to titrate drips? Yes
- Common titratable &/or set rate drips: Cardizem, Heparin, Amiodarone
- Charge Nurse/House Supervisor: ED charge nurse
- Are there nurse aids on this unit/Ratios: ED PCTs available
- RT Equipment (vents, Cpap, BiPap, etc): No Vents
- Is there tele on this unit? Monitor Techs? RNs read strips? No monitor tech in the ED
- Floating Requirements: Would float to med/surg/tele/overflow units and CRMC/MGMC Eds as needed
- Scrub Color/Dress Code: Navy
- Unit/Department specific orientation: 2 shifts orientation to Med/Surg/Tele at primary campus
Unit Specific Information
- Will be caring for patients from the ER who are waiting on a bed in the hospital
- May be asked to help with ED patients including vitals, IV starts and medication administration
- Will not be asked to be primary RN for ED patient assignment
