Adult Medical/Surgical Progressive and Critical Care, MPCU (Medicine Progressive Care Unit), 24 bed unit that cares for patients on ventilators with the collaborative support of a Respiratory Therapist. All patients are on continuous cardiac monitoring and require complex critical thinking. Nurses are actively involved in physician rounding and often assist with bedside procedures. Ratio for most patients is 1 to 3, if acute care borders could be 1 to 5.
