- Rarely may be placed on call or floated if low patient volume
Job Details
- 2 years of experience
- Must have BLS/ACLS certifications
- IV Medication gtts, Tracheostomy experience, Ventilator, bipap, cpap, high flow oxygen delivery devices
- Must be willing to float within hospital and/or up to 25 miles from facility
- Unit performs their own phlebotomy and IV sticks
Job Requirements
- Shift information: Refer to Position Details
- Weekend Hours: Every other weekend. If absence occurs, makeup following weekend
- Holiday rotation throughout the year
Schedule Information
- Number of Beds: 37 beds including a 10 bed section for acuity adaptable patients including chronic trach/ventilator care, dialysis, other elevated acuity patients
- Patient Ratios: 1:3 RN patient ratio based on acuity
- Equipment: Ventilators, bipap, cpap, high-flow and salter canula O2 delivery devices, wall mounted Phillips cardiac monitors, End tidal CO2 monitors, Alaris IV pumps, vocera communication devices, Vitual sitter, and marti language devices
- EMR: EPIC documentation system
- Type of Patients on Unit: chronic trach/vent dependent patients, neuro-surgical patients, non-complicated back surgeries, VP shunts, stable subdural hematoma patients, post-drips, GI bleed, ETOH withdrawal, suicidal and behavioral/substance abuse patients, Renal dialysis patients
- Other unit procedures: chest tube placement, IV insertion, blood transfusions, bedside bronchoscopy
- Dress Code: Scrub Color - Dark Blue
Unit Specific Information
- Preferred Skillset/Experience: NIHSS cert recommended, ICU/Critical Care experience recommended
- Personality Fit: Best personality fit for MPCU includes the ability to care for chronic trach/vent dependent patients, neuro-surgical patients, non-complicated back surgeries, VP shunts, and stable subdural hematoma patients.
