Schedule Information7a-7p; 7p-7a (They do self-scheduling & it is possible to do block scheduling as long as the needs of the unit are met. The Scheduling team balances the schedule.)2 weekends in a 4 week schedule (Fri/Sat/Sun are all considered weekend shifts for both day or night shifts)Travelers would be expected to work holidays if needed & will be worked into the perm staff holiday rotation schedule.
Unit Specific InformationUnit: PICU (Cost Center 034)Ratios: ICU 1:1-2, STEPDOWN 1:3Common diagnoses/Types of patients: Congenital Heart Program, DKA, Respiratory, Neurosurgery, Tracheostomies, Ventilators, G-TubesAre RNs required to titrate drips? Yes - Sedation Protocol & vasoactive drugs with Dr's ordersCharge Nurse/House Supervisor: Yes - Charge Nurse - depends on staffing. Attempt to have free charge when possible. House Supervisor is free.Are there nurse aids on this unit/Ratios: Yes - Daytime they have at least 1, sometimes 2. Nights they have 1.Pediatrician in house 24/7? In-house 24/7 with call room on the unit. Resident & APP also present 24/7.RT Equipment (vents, Cpap, BiPap, etc.): Yes - Vents, Cpap, BiPap - managed per RTTele is monitored off unit but all patients on monitor with central monitors at ICU & SD desk. Strips are read off unit by tele.Weekend Requirement: 2 weekends in a 4 week scheduleHoliday Requirement: Yes - Travelers would be expected to work holidays if needed & will be worked into the perm staff holiday rotation schedule.Floating Requirements: Yes - Floating within children's (L&D, NICU, & Acute Peds) Travelers would be expected to take normal ratios for whatever unit they float to.Scrub Color/Dress Code: Royal Blue w/ fun scrub tops (Kid Friendly) *No t-shirts*Unit/Department specific orientation: EPIC training, NSO, Competencies and equipment review with Clinical Preceptor, 3 shifts in PICU with a mentor.
Additional DetailsCan only submit to 1 position at a time across the entire WVU systemDrivers license address must be outside 50 miles from the facilityPrevious perm candidates must be gone for 2 yearsPrevious travelers there for 1 full year must be gone for 2 yearsTravel teams must be submitted together in 1 emailWe are only permitted to submit 2 candidates per opening, if the position is at max, we will hold on to the submission if a spot opens upCOVID VACCINE REQUIRED: Fully vaccinated means either 2 shots of Moderna or Pfizer or 1 shot of J&J; If a traveler wants to decline based on a Medical or Religious reason, please have them fill out the appropriate Exemption Form and email it to the address on the form. These should be done ASAP as they have to go through a council to be approved or denied
